Another desperate appeal to reunite Sudanese Canadian families with immediate family members who remain displaced and face unbearable suffering as a result of unnecessary processing delays by @CitImmCanada three years on. @MarkJCarney@LenaMetlegeDiab we are Canadian citizens who are failed by your government as a result of unfair, bureaucratic and arbitrary immigration policy.

Another year and another birthday for my sister where she remains stranded in a deadly war zone in Sudan with no prospect of being reunited with our 94 year old Canadian mom despite our repeated appeals to the Canadian government to intervene on humanitarian and compassionate grounds. @MarkJCarney@LenaMetlegeDiab my sister Kholoud is the daughter, sister and aunt of Canadian citizens who are fully committed to supporting her emotionally and financially should she ever reach safety here in Canada. Once again I appeal for your direct intervention given the distressing circumstances we face as a Sudanese Canadian family.

On this day three years ago war broke out in Sudan devastating the lives of millions of innocent Sudanese civilians creating one of the largest displacement in recent history. Amongst those displaced is my own sister Kholoud and her family who fled from city to city for many months but remain stranded in Sudan with very little hope of reaching safety. I appealed to the Canadian government within days of the war starting to evacuate Kholoud and her family on humanitarian grounds given she is the daughter, sister and aunt of Canadian citizens. Despite our repeated appeals to reunited our sister with our 94 year old Canadian mum who is desperate to see Kholoud and make sure she is safe.
Today I want to make another desperate appeal to our prime minster @MarkJCarney & the immigration minister @LenaMetlegeDiab to look at our appeal with a humanitarian lens given the significant risk to Kholoud’s life as a Darfuri woman and the devastating impact on my mum’s deteriorating health to bring my sister home to Canada. Our family continues to suffer the dire consequences of this war in particular our elderly mum who cannot understand why there is delay despite our full commitment to support Kholoud and her family emotionally and financially should they ever reach Canada.

With all due respect honourable @F_ElKhoury as a Sudanese Canadian I can’t help but feel completely failed by the current Canadian government who continues to turn a blind eye to reuniting my Darfuri sister Kholoud with my 94 year old Lebanese Canadian mom despite our commitment to support my sister. The Canadian government continues to use excuses such as biometrics and security to delay family reunification under the so called Sudan humanitarian family reunification program. Why does the policy cap the reunification of Canadian families with their desperate immediate family members who remain stranded in a dire situation as a result of the largest humanitarian crisis in recent history?

Another heartbreaking news that a Sudanese Canadian family lost their dad while waiting to be reunited under the so called ‘Humanitarian Family Reunification Pathway’ waiting for months to process their immigration application. @LenaMetlegeDiab how many of our family members must die before you take action and expedite applications of such desperate Canadian families?
@MarkJCarney@AnitaAnandMP@timhodgsonmt@NicholasCoghlan@geoffreyyork@yonahdiamond@TheRWCHR@SCCASocials
@AnitaAnandMP condemning actions is not enough anymore. Canada must stop supplying weapons to those committing genocide by upholding international law and penalising those breaching export laws. Millions of innocent Sudanese civilians are dying as a result of the Canadian government’s inaction.

The NBA is partnering with the UAE. The UAE is fueling genocide in Sudan.

The RSF just attacked a kindergarten, killing at least 33 children in Sudan.
Meanwhile, the Trump Admin. continues to sell arms to the UAE, who are aiding these atrocities.
Imagine if Trump spent as much time trying to stop the killing, as he did getting the UAE to invest in his crypto coin.
Liberals have allowed Canadian-made weapons to get into the hands of belligerents in Sudan's brutal civil war. This is wrong.
The people of Sudan deserve freedom, democracy, and civilian administration. We must stop arming their oppressors.

.@MarkCarney made a choice not to raise the UAE's violation of the UN arms embargo on #Sudan. But here there is a legal obligation for 🇨🇦 to act and end years of foot-dragging on Streit, close loopholes in the export controls system.
@IrwinCotler@mutasimali3@yonahdiamond "The time for action for Sudan is right now, as the situation has reached an international emergency. As parliamentarians, you have the power to take a host of practical measures." - @yonahdiamond
Despite Canadians’ FULL financial responsibility during the application process & a whole year post arrival, their families remain stranded due to IRCC’s delays. Government is prioritizing programs that drain budget but fails to act on the ones that don’t. https://t.co/crlVPTLyX1
Fine. Pretty much every Canadian wants to see us diversify our trade relations. But the very least the PM must do is call on this "ally" to cease enabling genocide in #Sudan. I'm pretty sure most decent Cdns would want that too.
@pfragiskatos Three weeks have passed since we stood outside your office and submitted our letter. We are still waiting for a response.
We urge you to take leadership on two critical issues:
1️⃣ Stop the export of Canadian arms that are ending up with the RSF via the UAE — these weapons are fueling atrocities in Sudan.
2️⃣ Deliver on IRCC’s promises to expedite Sudanese family reunification and refugee applications.
Your continued silence undermines the trust of the Black and Muslim communities you represent. We are counting on you to act — not just speak.
Another heartbreaking read about the dreadful war in Sudan and its devastating impact on Sudanese civilians. Many Sudanese Canadians are desperate to raise awareness about the forgotten war. @MarkJCarney@AnitaAnandMP Canada has a legal obligation to enforce export restrictions to prevent Canadian military equipment used in this genocide.
