The politically motivated outrage about ‘non-indigenes’ running elections in Nigerian cities is funny when you realized that NO ONE has contested election for Governor in any state where he is not an indigene since 1999.

I am not aware anyone who is not Yoruba has contested for Governor of Lagos State. Why the stupid outrage?

​Using Lagos consistently frames these discussions around a Yoruba vs. Igbo dynamic, which feels counterproductive.

If the goal was simply to illustrate a regional comparison, using Anambra and Ebonyi would have made the same point without fueling division.

Next time, consider using a different example entirely, such as discussing why an Igbo person shouldn't be discouraged from running for gubernatorial office in Sokoto or Gombe state.
