As of today, Cambodia reports 12 civilians killed and 74 injured as border fighting enters a second week, with continued shelling into Cambodian territory. There are still no official figures released for Cambodian soldier casualties.

For context, the July clashes lasted four days, from July 24 to July 28, before fighting eased and a ceasefire was reached. Civilian casualties were recorded within that short period.

This time, the scale is similar but the violence is being sustained over a longer period. Thai forces appear more aggressive in the frequency and persistence of their strikes.

There is no indication of an agreed ceasefire from the Thai side, nor any visible signs of de-escalation or interest from the Thai government in easing tensions.

Thai forces reportedly fired toxic gas (ផ្សែងពុល, poisonous smoke) this afternoon into O Bei Chon commune in Ou Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey, an area where Cambodian civilians live. The Ministry of National Defense says the incident happened at about 2:22 p.m. and describes it as an indiscriminate attack that violates international humanitarian law.

My question is - “Toxic gas” is a broad term, so what actually qualifies as toxic gas in this context? It is a significant claim and clearer information would help understand what was used.

F16s, tanks, and heavy weapons are being used as Thai forces open fire on Cambodian positions in the An Ses area of Preah Vihear, with additional strikes at Ta Moan Thom temple and around the Preah Vihear temple zone.

Cambodia says this follows days of Thai provocations. During the second incident, Cambodian units did not return fire and continue to monitor the situation. The ASEAN Observer Team has been notified again, with Cambodia requesting an on-site investigation to establish facts and ensure transparency.

The Ministry of National Defense condemned the attack as a breach of the October 26 Joint Statement on the Cambodia-Thailand Peace Agreement. Cambodia is urging the international community to condemn Thailand’s actions and hold it accountable, while calling for an immediate end to hostilities and for Thailand to respect the ceasefire and its obligations under international law.

The appeals court will resume proceedings on December 18, 2025, in the case of Cambodian opposition leader Kem Sokha, who remains under house arrest following his 27-year sentence in 2023.

On November 10, opposition leader Kem Sokha’s lawyers asked the Appeal Court to resume proceedings in his treason case.

The irony: the very country the Cambodian government accused of trying to topple its regime is the same one that saved it from collapsing under Thai aggression. It’s time for Cambodia to drop the case against the U.S. and opposition leader Kem Sokha.

Thailand’s map dispute now is a clear case of territorial revisionism. It seeks to alter established borders in opposition to treaties, international law & historical settlements. Its repeated coercive actions threaten regional stability & reflect its ultranationalist agenda.

Thais threatened to boycott @CocaCola simply because it has a Cambodian singer—who speaks out on the 🇰🇭-🇹🇭 conflict—as its Cambodia brand ambassador. Exploiting its weight as the bigger market, Thailand pressured Coca-Cola into cancelling his contract. Thais bully across border.

Thailand invaded Cambodia again this morning breaking @realDonaldTrump ceasefire agreement. Meanwhile it still holds captive 18 Cambodian soldiers it kidnapped after ceasefire. The US & others must respond decisively to Thailand’s persistent and brazen acts of defiant aggression.

The Ministry of Information has released an urgent communication from the Cambodian Human Rights Committee to the UN, denouncing the unlawful capture and mistreatment of Cambodian soldiers by Thai forces. Of the 20 soldiers detained after a ceasefire agreement, only two have been returned—both in alarming condition. One is now physically disabled; the other is suffering from severe psychological trauma, reportedly due to degrading treatment while in Thai custody. Cambodia is demanding the immediate release of the remaining 18 and accountability for these violations of international law.

. @OIFrancophonie which includes 93 member states and governments, calls on Thailand to respect the rulings of the @CIJ_ICJ regarding its border disputes with Cambodia. The ICJ ruled in favor of Cambodia on two occasions: in 1962 and again in 2013.

In violation of the ceasefire & in act of cowardice Thai soldiers captured 18 Cambodian soldiers (1 escaped, 2 likely killed) during what Cambodian soldiers thought was a friendly handshake.
