@drzimimudazeno@TwinkRegimer Scotland homicide rate - 0.81
NI homicide rate - 0.68
Scotland infant mortality rate - 3.5
NI infant mortality rate 4.5
this is just because scotland and NI have different censuses from england and wales and the chart maker was lazy
@woqutuwok@JanWithDaPlan Plants are not sentient by any scientific definition, and far more plants are used in the production of meat than in an equivalent vegan diet
@vampirelexapro@zukosshoulders Also whilst eating locally farmed animals is an lesser evil than factory farmed, an evil is still an evil at the end of the day
@vampirelexapro@zukosshoulders B12 - yep
D3 - comes from the sun (I take it winter though so fair enough)
Creatine - not necessary
Carnosine - synthesised by the body
Dha - synthesised by the body
Heme iron - not necessary
Taurine - synthesised by the body
@vampirelexapro@folklloresz@zukosshoulders I’m not sure where you are, but I pay about £30 a year I think for vitamin B12, which is more than made up for by how much cheaper beans/lentils are than meat as a protein source.
@vampirelexapro@zukosshoulders The only nutrient you can't get from a vegan diet is B12 (and sometimes iron), so you would need to take a supplement or smth for that, I don't believe it being mildly inconvenient for you otherwise is a reasonable explanation for why you need to kill or exploit an animal though
@vampirelexapro@zukosshoulders No obviously I don't think eating meat is as bad as rape lol it was to show that something occuring in the wild isn't a good argument for its morality
@vampirelexapro@folklloresz@zukosshoulders Of course if you genuinely could not survive without animal products cause of severe allergies or smth that is an entirely different thing, but for 99% of people that isn't the case. Vegan diets being expensive is also just a myth, poorer people are far more likely to vegan
@depressedop@vampirelexapro@zukosshoulders I mean if in your worldview animal suffering isn't a bad thing then sure yeah thats reasonable, in my opinion it is though, and if I can easily avoid causing it by being vegan then that is the correct thing to do
@depressedop@vampirelexapro@zukosshoulders The point I'm trying to make is that just because something is common in nature doesn't mean it is morally correct, humans have the capacity (in the vast majority of cases), to live a completely healthy lifestyle without imbuing unneccessary suffering onto trillions of animals
