Brands, know when you need to make an apology and clearly make it. Do not try to couch in explainers or justifications. Simply apologise, acknowledge you understand the error and promise it will not be repeated. So simple, yet I have seen this mistake countless times.
Brands, it is NEVER OK to leverage tragedy to sell your product. A beauty brand has just emailed "A message of care", referenced the "heartbreaking crises" followed by a sales push around "noticing visibly more stressed skin, we are here to help". Appalled.
Update: they attempted an apology but got it horribly wrong, explaining "when you feel low and at a loss with your skin, on top of everything else, it can all feel a bit too much sometimes". I despair.
Having lots of proposals out reminds me of dating when you’re just waiting for someone to text and ask you out on a date. You’d think you mature past this feeling, but no.
“[Being in care] didn’t feel the same as staying at my mum’s, it was like a prison cell for me,” Issaiah told Byline Times.
Heartbreaking, informative, hopeful - incredibly powerful piece by @SobukiRa

@JoshLachkovic@nytimes Honestly, I’m so pleased to read something so optimistic. I’m happy and feel v excited by my work. I also have this sense of stress about all I want to do and time. As I write this I realise it *might* be (definitely is) fuelled by minimal sleep + mothers work at this moment…
@JoshLachkovic Definitely. So many other ideas. You seen that new @nytimes piece on millennials hitting middle age? Someone says, "what I feel is a loss of potential"...kinda got me, maybe we're so spoilt for choice it's left this constant urge / appetite for more. Not very in the moment etc :)
📣📣 HIRING ALERT: Head of Paid Social
(If this isn't for you, I would really appreciate a like and comment for your networks)
I am incredibly excited to announce, we are hiring our first full-time role at Amphora: Head of Paid Social.
We've had a brilliant year so far, growing each month, but have some pretty ambitious plans.
I created Amphora with two intentions:
(1) to build the agency I always wanted to hire both as a founder and head of growth, and
(2) to build the first household name growth agency.
Our first core service offering is paid social. It's the problem that affects almost every consumer startup in the world. It's easy to say post-iOS14, that job has become harder. I see it as more opportunity than there's been since the early days.
This role will be a leadership role, helping define and shape how we approach paid social. But it's also a new business, so you'll need to get stuck in day-to-day as well (besides, if you're anything like me, checking Ads Manager is just a part of your day like eating).

On mat leave. Inbox packed with sales emails - and worse, multiple auto chasers hanging off each one.
Treats a tired new mother can savour include: "I received your OOO a couple of days ago, I hope you’re back in the swing of things"...
Wish email had auto reply GROAN button.
