When it rains, especially now that there are concerns about another El Niño season, many families living in low-income areas worry that their homes will flood. After rains, some spend the night trying to keep water out. Those living in single rooms, share toilets with dozens of neighbours and have little or no privacy. For many Kenyans, this is still normal life. Just imagine..
This is the kind of life President @WilliamsRuto has said should change, which explains why, through the Affordable Housing Programme, more families are getting a chance to move into decent, safe and affordable homes where they can live with dignity.
The Affordable Housing Programme is one of the Government's flagship projects under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Its goal is to make decent housing more affordable while creating jobs, supporting local businesses and growing the economy.
The programme is being rolled out across the country through urban renewal projects and new housing developments. Some of the major projects are Mukuru, Park Road, Pangani, Jogoo Road, Mathare, Shauri Moyo, Starehe Point, Kibera Soweto East, Southlands, Kasarani and Mbotela in Nairobi; Mavoko, Konza City and Machakos estates in Machakos; Kabete, Kiambu Town, Kikuyu, Gatundu, Limuru, Kings Boma (Ruiru) and Thika Kings Orchid in Kiambu; Soilo, Bahati and Kings Sapphire Bondeni in Nakuru; Buxton Point in Mombasa; Pioneer and Kimumu AMS in Uasin Gishu; Busia ATC Phases I and II in Busia; Kanduyi in Bungoma; Lumumba and Upper Kanyakwar in Kisumu; Kings Serenity in Kajiado; and Nanyuki Estate in Laikipia. Many other counties also have affordable housing projects under construction.
The programme is creating jobs, supporting local suppliers and contractors, improving neighbourhoods and giving more Kenyans a chance to own a home.
May God bless every mother, father and young person working hard every day to give their family a better life. Get your home today. Register through https://t.co/Gt7bfBEqiN or dial *832#.
This programme will change the Kenyan housing story. From slums to flats. God Bless Kenya, God Bless the President of The Republic of Kenya.

The OGOLA led bench comprising Justice Eric Ogola, Justice Anthony Mrima, and Justice Dr. Freda Mugambi has ruled that Prof. Kithure Kindiki’s ascension to the Office of Deputy President under Article 149(1) did not require public participation, thereby upholding the appointment.
The court affirmed that Article 149 of the Constitution is clear on filling a mid term vacancy in the Office of the Deputy President. Where the office falls vacant through death, resignation, or impeachment, the process shifts to the President, who nominates a replacement subject to approval by Parliament.
In its ruling, the bench found that this constitutional process is adjudicative and procedural, not consultative, meaning public participation was not a constitutional requirement in Prof. Kindiki’s appointment as Deputy President.
