I love stories of faith in the scriptures. Here is a less known one. The eldest daughter of Ishmael.
1 Nephi 16:7 the end says, “also Zoram took the eldest daughter of Ishmael to wife.”
Think about this. All of the sisters of Ishmael’s eldest daughters had someone from the beginning. They were paired off with Nephi and his 3 brothers.
She didn’t have a husband to be and yet she was called to go into the wilderness not knowing what the future held for her.
She acted in faith even though it may have appeared she was delayed blessings she deserved.
When they got back to the wilderness there was Zoram waiting to be her husband. Imagine the joy both of them felt.
The Lord was aware of both of them and made sure they would be blessed with each other for their faith.
Could I humbly ask for prayers? I have to make a major medical decision, one I hoped I'd never have to make. I want to make sure I make the right one.
Thanks in advance.....
Nearly 30 years ago, President Henry B. Eyring, who was then a member of the Quorum of the Twelve, said something in general conference that I have not forgotten. I shared his insight this past Sunday as I spoke to the students of BYU–Idaho.
“One of the ways we may know that the warning is from the Lord is that the law of witnesses, authorized witnesses, has been invoked. When the words of prophets seem repetitive, that should rivet our attention and fill our hearts with gratitude to live in such a blessed time” (“Finding Safety in Counsel,” Apr. 1997).
Two weeks ago, President Dallin H. Oaks repeated the warning issued by President Russell M. Nelson from general conference in April 2018:
“In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.”
So, what do you do to rivet your attention, to assure that you survive spiritually by having the constant influence of the Holy Ghost?
You look carefully at your daily activities. Am I praying? Am I thoughtfully partaking of the sacrament? What am I putting into my mind? Am I associating with others who seek the constant influence of the Holy Ghost? What could be my distractions, my obstacles, or my deceptions? You pray for inspiration and courage to make any changes you need to make.
Let us be true disciples of Jesus Christ. The Redeemer of Israel knows you, loves you, and will strengthen you as you seek to draw closer to Him.
Today is a well-timed opportunity to express my love for my wife Christine as I begin my service in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and as we celebrate Valentine’s Day. I was thrilled to have her with me yesterday as we shared thoughts with media about this new phase for us.
Recently, following a large youth devotional, I was visiting amidst a happy swirl of wonderful young men and women. A young man came up.
With great earnestness, he asked, “Elder Gong, can I still go to heaven?”
He was ashamed of some things he had done. He wondered if there was any hope for him. I listened carefully, invited him to talk with his bishop, and gave him a big hug.
I think my response may have surprised him: “Trust God and repent, and I promise you can still go to heaven.”
Repentance and forgiveness through Jesus Christ’s Atonement can be real for each of us. Every glorious blessing in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is meant personally for you.
As you study Noah this week, here is an interesting connection between President Nelson's talk on covenant "rest" and Noah's name which means "rest."
There is beautiful symbolic meaning in the ark floating above the chaos of the world, at rest, with the covenant keepers inside the ark or translated into heaven (see JST Gen 14).
The Hebrew name Noah (נֹחַ, Noach) directly means "rest," "comfort," or "peace". Derived from the Hebrew root nuach (to rest or settle down), the name Noah signifies resting from the curse of toil and sin (Genesis 5:29)
President Nelson: "The reward for keeping covenants with God is heavenly power—power that strengthens us to withstand our trials, temptations, and heartaches better. This power eases our way. Those who live the higher laws of Jesus Christ have access to His higher power. Thus, covenant keepers are entitled to a special kind of rest that comes to them through their covenantal relationship with God...
Despite the distractions and distortions that swirl around us, you can find true rest—meaning relief and peace—even amid your most vexing problems...
As we strive to live the higher laws of Jesus Christ, our hearts and our very natures begin to change. The Savior lifts us above the pull of this fallen world by blessing us with greater charity, humility, generosity, kindness, self-discipline, peace, and rest.
Now, you may be thinking this sounds more like hard spiritual work than rest. But here is the grand truth: while the world insists that power, possessions, popularity, and pleasures of the flesh bring happiness, they do not! They cannot! What they do produce is nothing but a hollow substitute for “the blessed and happy state of those [who] keep the commandments of God...
My plea to you this morning is to find rest from the intensity, uncertainty, and anguish of this world by overcoming the world through your covenants with God."

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is infinite in breadth—reaching all humanity—and intimate in reaching the furthest depths of your heart.
Each day, seek to more fully understand His sacrifice for you.
We believe the Bible is mostly accurate as far as it is translated correctly. The Church of Jesus Christ is the Church of the New Testament and what was last during the dark ages has been restored. It meets all of the criteria:
Christ organized the Church. Ephesians 4:11-14
The true Church must bear the name of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:23
The true Church must have a foundation of Apostles and Prophets.
Ephesians 2:19-20
The true Church must have the same organization as Christ’s original Church.
Ephesians 4:11-14
The true Church must have divine authority.
Hebrews 5:4-10
The true Church must have no paid ministry.
Isaiah 45:13
The true Church must baptize by immersion.
Matthew 3:13-16
The true Church must bestow the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands by those who have priesthood authority.
Acts 8:14-17
The true Church must practice divine healing.
Mark 3:14-15
The true Church must teach that God and Jesus Christ are separate and distinct individuals.
John 17:11
The true Church must teach that God and Jesus Christ have bodies of flesh and bone.
Luke 24:36-39
The leaders must be called by God. Hebrews 5:4
The true Church must claim revelation from God through living prophets. Amos 3:7, Proverbs 29:18, Numbers 12:6, Luke 1:70, 1 Corinthians 12:28
The true Church must be a missionary church.
Matthew 28:19-20
The true Church must be a restored church.
Acts 3:19-21
The true Church must practice baptism for the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:29
Faithful members of the true Church will be known by their fruits.
Matthew 7:20
The true Church doesn't waste time denigrating other of different faiths for their beliefs. Matthew 7:1-5

The true Church must be a temple-building Church. Isaiah 2:2-3, Micah 4:1-2, Malachi 3:1
The true Church must believe in the litteral gathering of Israel. Isaiah 5:26, Ezekiel 28:5, Ephesians 1:10
Members of the true Church will be called Saints. Psalms 149:1, most letters from Paul.
Members of the true Church will seek inspiration through prayer. James 1:5-6, Matthew 7:7, John 16:13
Members of the true Church when they say their personal prayers, will not use repetitive prayers. Matthew 6:7
Members of the true Church will pray to God the Father through Jesus Christ. John 14:13-14, John 15:17, Luke 11:2

1 Corinthians 11:23-25, Acts 20:7, Hebrews 10:25

The true Church must teach that Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9-10, 1 Corinthians 15:22, 2 Peter 2:20-22
There is no church on earth that meets all of these Biblical criteria except for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was the first Church in these last days to bear the name of Jesus Christ.
While these criteria led me to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the reason I became converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that the Holy Ghost (aka the Spirit of Truth) bore its witness if it Christ’s Church.
My dear brothers and sisters, opportunities await each of us this Christmas season to reach out and show kindness with Christlike love and compassion and to make a difference.
