Among the top in mvmt research & muscular dev., @SamuelBuckner1 , does a good job not overly complicating the subject, ✅ @StrengthDebates , you'll find interesting vol. Leaves space open room for "total tonage" to be considered!
The dose-response relationship between resistance training volume and muscle hypertrophy: There are still doubts 🏋️👀@SamuelBuckner1
https://t.co/iIyXxw9BFi
Is the evidence for a dose-response relationship between resistance training volume and growth as strong as what is commonly communicated?

If there's one thing I've learned about Periodisation, it's that no matter how well reasoned and logical the criticism presented is it just will not die or be upgraded to be helpful.
Bravo Jeremy @JamesSteeleII @DrJpfisher@SamuelBuckner1
Pre-print of our upcoming book chapter titled The Myth of "Periodisation"
This chapter is forthcoming in Myths of Sports Performance, eds.
Enjoyed working on this with Dr.'s @JamesSteeleII , @DrJpfisher , and @SamuelBuckner1

In short, the importance of previous training volume in resistance training studies may be exaggerated and lack a strong physiological rationale.
New episode on #TheDrGabrielleLyonShow with @SamuelBuckner1 assistant professor of exercise science at the University of South Florida, to discuss exercise, muscle, and how to optimize your time in the gym.

Medical Hypotheses. Early-life strength value that a person possesses prior to training is hypothesized to be a more appropriate indicator regarding long-term health outcomes than the act of training itself.

Equating volume in resistance training studies often allows one group up to train closer to failure than than the other. This leads us to conclude that various fancy training methods are superior to others when we really just under-dosed one condition by equating volume.
Latest paper from #usfmuscle where we discuss the term “periodization programming” which has become more common in the literature

Appreciate the opportunity to participate in a "Contrasting Perspectives" piece with Dr. Folland/Balshaw on whether growth plays a role with changes in strength with resistance training

New paper discussing disagreement on periodization. I think there is less disagreement than authors would suggest. Primary problem seems to be:
Periodization is studied using short studies which most would agree is programming .This has created confusion
