We express deep concern & outrage over the violent incident during our visit to MKCG Medical College, Berhampur for PARADISE Intermedics 2025.

1) A 120+ member VIMSAR delegation attended on official invitation to promote cultural & academic exchange.

2) MKCG union had promised to receive us at the railway station. After a 12-hour journey, we were left waiting 3+ hours, with calls unanswered.

3) When we boarded the bus arranged by MKCG reps, the driver took us inside the campus, where a mob of 400+ students suddenly surrounded & attacked us.

4) The mob hurled mud, sand, stones, & used sticks, iron rods, bats to smash windows & assault our students.

5) In panic, students locked the bus to protect themselves — causing suffocation & distress; several were hospitalized.

6) Attackers then dragged students out, surrounded them, & under the pretext of a “welcome,” began beating & threatening them with knives & blades.

7) Students were trampled, belongings torn, & repeatedly threatened not to leave safely.

8) Two students critically injured — admitted to casualty. MLC reports attached.

This reflects gross mismanagement, lack of discipline, & failure of safety at MKCG.

We demand a fair, impartial investigation & strict action against all culprits.

Campuses must remain centres of learning not violence.
