I would not brag about this if I were @POTUS I’m not sure anyone has told you this, but the NCRI/MEK are one of the most hated groups among Iranians, including many who despise the Islamic Republic. For nearly half a century the regime has used them as the ultimate boogeyman to scare people away from rising up, that’s how toxic their name is. These are the same people who stood with Saddam against Iran, and that history is not forgotten.
If they’re the ones lining up behind this memorandum, that’s a wall of red flags, not a vote of confidence. And just because they call themselves an “opposition group” and throw huge speaking fees at American politicians does not magically make them legitimate in the eyes of Iranians.
