CIJA STRONGLY CONDEMNS CANADA'S SANCTIONS ON ISRAEL
Noah Shack, CEO of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, issued the following statement:
“We strongly condemn the Government of Canada’s announcement of new sanctions on Israel.
“Rather than pursue an independent foreign policy grounded in Canada’s strategic interests and its stated approach of not ‘lecturing countries from afar,’ the government has chosen to follow the United Kingdom’s lead, in a move reportedly driven by domestic political considerations to appease the most extreme elements of society.
"As Jewish Canadians prepare to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, including by increasing security at synagogues, the government’s announcement reinforces a troubling double standard toward Israel that not only impacts the Middle East but has real consequences here at home. The UK government drew a link between today's joint statement and the domestic security situation facing Jews, highlighting its investment of an additional £250 million (nearly $500 million CAD) for Jewish community security. Sanctions will also negatively impact Canadian workers and employers by adding to instability with key trade partners at this precarious time.”
“These sanctions fail to advance peace or security for Israelis and Palestinians. They interfere in Israel’s democratic election just weeks before Israelis vote, a warning voiced by Israeli President Isaac Herzog. They make diplomacy harder and do nothing to press the Palestinian Authority to fulfill the commitments it made to Prime Minister Carney, including fundamentally reform its governance, to hold general elections in 2026 in which Hamas can play no part, and to demilitarize the Palestinian state.
“Canada should be using its influence to advance peace, strengthen the economy and confront hatred at home — not imposing punitive measures in the midst of a democratic election that will achieve the opposite.”
After three weeks in the top spot, the great @GadSaad has knocked #thehighroad down to #2. I’ll still take that as a compliment! Already ordered my copy of #suicidalempathy ! Congratulations Gad !
#thehighroad continues to sit on top of the Canadian non-fiction list for the third week in a row. Thank you to everyone who continues to support !

The moment the West decided evidence no longer mattered — if it got in the way of utopia.
Melanie Phillips (former Guardian journalist):
“Objective evidence was cast aside because it was too inconvenient. The very idea of reason and rationality was dismissed.
All these ideologies — multiculturalism, lifestyle choice, deep green environmentalism, moral relativism — were utopian. They promised perfection. Anyone who brought facts against them wasn’t just wrong… they were evil.”
Result?
- Evidence became “right-wing”
- Dissenters were bullied, ostracized, fired, threatened
- The Guardian itself became the heart of this ideological machine… until she fell foul of it.
When ideology is sacrosanct and the world must be perfected, facts become the enemy — and truth-tellers become heretics.
Have you watched this shift in real time — where inconvenient evidence gets labeled “hate” or “misinformation”?
Which sacred ideology do you think has done the most damage to open debate?

"There is no Gazan genocide, and antizionism is a hate movement that is categorically incompatible with Canadian society. This is not about Jews. This is about how Canada cannot be the enlightened society it aspires to be when it admits, tolerates and coddles people who call for intifada in our streets. They mock and humiliate everything we believe in, and they are not welcome here."
-what no Canadian politician will say, and thus the hate shall continue, as confident as ever that it has political cover.
@chrisdacey@CarymaRules TPS officer here who has argued your very point with respect to media and peaceful counter protestors. I was rebuked by superiors and told I was not suited to work protests.
@CarymaRules Toronto police officer here. I have previously thanked you for your work in person while working at these protests. This is an absolute embarrassment and abdication of duty but par for the TPS course.
Where is this "Palestinian state"? Starmer can’t say. Where are its borders? He can’t say. Does it include all the “West Bank”, the disputed territories of Judea and Samaria? He can’t say. Does it include the hundreds of thousands of Jewish inhabitants of those territories? He can’t say. Who is the leader of its government? He can’t say.
Today’s recognition is of …what, precisely? An aspiration? A process? An idea dreamed up in the bath? Frankly, this clown-show makes Neville Chamberlain look like a titan of far-sighted statesmanship.

Probably the most morally bankrupt thing I've ever seen a prime minister do. Extending sovereignty to the worst people in the world, and a movement that has brought hate to Canada unlike anything in our history. I can't frame this as anything but evil. https://t.co/ep14kSDSZu
Canadians, including those in Whitby, have been devastated by both the horrific attacks of October 7, 2023, and the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Any path forward toward a sustainable two-state solution and a lasting peace will require international collaboration and leadership.
That’s why I’m proud to join Prime Minister @MarkJCarney in calling for the recognition of a democratic and demilitarized Palestinian state.
This is a significant step toward ensuring a just and meaningful peace for Israel and Palestine alike.
Canada is siding with Hamas. It’s clear. PM @MarkJCarney doesn’t condemn the terrorists behind Oct 7th slaughter and kidnappings, and the reason for this war, but does so for just Israel? All of the problems there are as a result of evil Hamas. They are not our ally. Israel is. You are bowing to anti Israel forces who routinely run antisemitic campaigns in Canada. You should rewrite this statement asap and scold Hamas like
You did @netanyahu and @Israel — instead of trying to help Hamas - Canada Britain and France should be calling for their unconditional surrender. @EmmanuelMacron@Keir_Starmer
