the vast majority of indian kids at ut austin are indian americans from texas. ut austin administers an auto-admit program for the t5% of the graduating class at every texas high school.

indian americans are one of the highest-performing academic groups in america, so naturally, they tend to place in the t5% of their graduating classes, which, ironically, is the exact kind of meritocratic system that republicans love preaching about when arguing against dei.
