Coaches: Never forget, the more respect you’ve built with your players, the more demanding you can be. You earn that right by seeing them & treating them like people first & players second. The greater the trust & respect between player & coach, the more demands leaders can make!
Three simple steps to improving your self-talk:
1. Identify a negative thought.
2. Challenge its validity.
3. Find a more positive and realistic thought to replace it.
Improving your self-talk can greatly help your athletic performance and mental health.
Getting angry at yourself after making mistakes in games isn’t going to help you play any better, so you might as well stay calm and continue to do the best that you can. Leave your mistakes in the past. Learn from them, move on, and focus on what’s next!
