I think in a future with way more power, energy, and better algos, the idea of talking to just one agent will seem so archaic.
We'll ask a question, and thousands (millions?) of agents will spin up in parallel to loop on the problem. And there will always be a few state of the arts agents supervising the swarm.
So, cheap, local open-source models will act as the little agents, while the supervisors will be closed, more expensive models. The two paradigms will basically coexist.
It’s just like humanity, we went from Einstein to the CNRS. Collective intelligence will always win out.

As for why not another french city? Paris is the only french city where you can have an interesting international level career. Still feasible outside of Paris but way harder.
