Delhi peeps - what’s a decent gym to go to? South or central Delhi. Visited half a dozen yesterday and they were all dank basements or in fire hazard buildings, pumping loud music. Please help!

It appears that Indian govt has slowed down internet & mobile connectivity in capital #NewDelhi in view of protest by #cjp_पार्टी , finding hard to
get through to anyone amidst slow internet connectivity.
thought-provoking reflection.
India has the economy, military, tech, and global reach.
But does it have the diplomatic voice to match?
Strategic autonomy shouldn’t become strategic silence.
A rising power can’t afford to be absent from conversations that shape its future.
𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿?
On May 27, the anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru’s passing, I found myself wondering what India’s first Prime Minister would make of the world today.
Imagine Nehru appearing unexpectedly at the dinner table.
He would surely marvel at India’s transformation: a major economy, a nuclear and space power, a digital innovator, and an increasingly influential voice on the world stage.
But after listening patiently to our account of India’s rise, he might ask a simple question:
“During the ongoing Iran crisis, where exactly is India?”
This question is worthy of thought.
The conflict is not some distant regional war. It touches directly upon India’s interests: energy security, shipping through Hormuz, inflation, supply chains, connectivity through Iran, and the welfare of millions of Indians in the Gulf.
Yet India has appeared more observer than participant in the diplomatic conversation surrounding the crisis.
This is not a call for reckless activism or nostalgia for another era. The world of 2026 is vastly more complex than the world Nehru inhabited. Strategic autonomy requires prudence and restraint. But there is a difference between restraint and reticence.
Nehru understood something that remains relevant today: influence derives not only from power, but also from presence.
India of the 1950s possessed far less economic and military power than India does today. Yet it sought to shape international conversations on Korea, Suez, Indochina and Congo. It did not always determine outcomes. But it was rarely absent.
The Iran crisis also reveals another reality. We often speak of a “multipolar world”, but what we increasingly see is a world of intermediaries.
Countries such as Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and others have acquired diplomatic relevance because they possess channels of communication that others lack. Influence flows not merely from military strength, but from connectivity.
This is where India should excel.
We engage the United States and Europe, maintain ties with Russia, have deep interests in West Asia, participate in BRICS and the Quad, and retain credibility across much of the Global South.
Strategic autonomy should not become strategic silence.
The challenge before India is not whether it should mediate every conflict. It is whether a country of India’s scale and aspirations can afford to be absent from conversations that directly affect its interests.
Nehru would not have asked us to return to the diplomacy of the 1950s.
But as he leaves the dinner. he might ask whether a stronger India has become too cautious about using its voice.
Today we possess
unprecedented weight.
The question is whether we’re prepared to exercise an equally confident voice.
The future will not be shaped by great powers alone. It will also be shaped by those capable of connecting worlds that no longer trust one another. We have the power to be one of those.
Good night, Mr. Nehru.

As someone who flies often @airindia regularly. Delhi ground team Deepak, Harleen & Vedant—and cabin crew deserve real credit: warm, efficient and professional. Service is genuinely good. Yes,fleet needs upgrades, but worth acknowledging when airlines get it right. @TataCompanies
There is so much recent negativity about @airindia that I want to put this out.
I have taken 3 flights on @airindia in the last three days.
On Wednesday:Rome to Del
On Thursday: Del to Bom
On Friday: Bom to Del
In every single case the flight was on time. The inflight service was warm & efficient. Luggage came relatively quickly (quickest in Del)
The check in was entirely painless
I don’t think frequent travellers care as much as others about airline food but if you think that’s important then I had a very good dinner on Rome to Del.
On the international sector I
flew one of the older Dreamliners & I am not one of those aeroplane nerds but I thought
it was very comfortable.
It’s second nature for many
of us to bitch about @airindia but it’s one of only two international airlines I
fly regularly. The other is @emirates which admittedly is far better ( & far more expensive) but it is the best airline in the world so it’s better than every other carrier anyway.
The Tatas need to hold their nerve. There is a lot that is good about @airindia that rarely gets acknowledged
@TataCompanies
Om Mani Padme Hum. 🙏 .
Shocked and saddened by his sudden demise.
Ambassador P. Stobdan was candid, erudite voice on Central Asia & Himalayan security, he brought rare depth to India’s strategic discourse.
May the Triple Gem guide his soul to peace and Nirvana.
Shocked to learn of the sudden passing of Ambassador P. Stobdan, whom I had met just a few days ago. A candid, forthright and erudite diplomat, he carried the wisdom of the world in his heart. May God give strength and fortitude to the bereaved family in this hour of grief.
Went @Bihar_Museum today. Whatever history's verdict on @NitishKumar's era, this world-class museum is 1 of its finest legacies, capturing Bihar's journey from cradle of ancient civs to birthplace of Buddhism & Jainism.Nestled in Patna chaos, it's simply amazing @anjaniksingh41
Royal elegance in #Darbhanga! Majestic red palace, ex-Maharajas' prop, now hosts @lnmudarbhanga55 . Golden domes, intricate arches & serene waterside views in #Mithila heart.Indo-Saracenic/Mughal Rajput fusion deep red walls, ornate domes w/ finials, balconies reflecting grandeur.
Early morning chaos at DEL apt caused hrs of ripple disruptions! Aftr @IndiGo6E declared full emerg due to mid-air eng failure. By aftn, backlog hit hard, we sat frozen on active rwy for 1hr, wheels up, engs humming. 1 failure led to widespread departure delays at @DelhiAirport
Delhi, Mumbai, BLR—same issue, different airports.
We already pay UDF for “world-class” infrastructure.
Yet airports now charge taxis to enter and pick up these same passengers—who then pass the cost straight to us.
Why pay twice for the same service?
I've so far stayed away from commenting on @BLRAirport's sudden decision to charge all commercial taxi operators ₹285 to enter T1 and pick-up passengers within 10 mins - every additional 5 mins is another ₹150. And even this spot is a 5 min walk from arrivals gate. The free P4/P3 is a 10-15 min walk and there's a free bus shuttle - but it's super inconvenient with luggage or for aged parents, and there's no cover (so good luck during rains).
For 3+ months now, this has become highly inconvenient for all our guests & it's been hurting our business. I myself wouldn't book a @shoffr_in from P3/P4, and last time when I paid for premium parking realised that it's not really that premium. Still, I didn't feel like I should create an issue out of this - after all, every busines including BIAL wants to increase their revenue.
But recently someone close to me reminded me that we have a voice, and we should use it - not just for our benefit, but also for that of thousands of other individual taxi drivers and small fleet owners. And most importantly, for all the travellers who are now either forced to walk or select expensive-and-not-worth-it options that are in front of them.
I'm not saying don't charge us - but going from 0 to ₹285 is a steep increase and gives no time for businesses to adjust and account for this cost. Instead I propose charging ₹100 per entry for 2026, and then increasing it to ₹200 next year. It's a fair trade-off between adding a revenue stream (which was non-existent for years) and not inconveniencing the very passengers who use and bring revenue to your airport. And it gives time for businesses to adapt.
The current situation is unfair to commercial taxi operators, inconvenient for travellers - and so reflective of the monopolistic position of BIAL and airports in general. I kindly request the relevant authorities to use this position in a manner that improves the ecosystem for everyone, rather than disbalance it.
To those reading this - if you've been impacted and agree with my views, please repost this in the hope that it's picked by media and Govt. authorities so that BIAL is forced to rethink it's current approach. They might be a monopoly we can't escape using, but we all have a voice too. Let's make them hear us 🙏🏼

Gulf tensions jacked up jet fuel prices—now your next family trip or work flight on #AirIndia just got ₹399 pricier domestically (from Mar 12). SE Asia? $60 extra. Europe/USA? Up to $200 by Mar 18. Gas at pumps hurts, but sky-high fares? Wallet weep!
@nitin_gadkari@NHAI_Official Unacceptable chaos at Brijghat toll on NH-9 (IRB). Stuck hrs in jams before/after high tolls. Point of “smooth” NH if it’s a bottleneck nightmare?
Fix urgently, hold operator accountable! Commuters deserve better—or waive toll.
Last 2 days: shocked by deafening music & reckless driving on pathetic roads outside Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve.
But inside #Dhikala, after depositing mobiles pure peace! Great
job @Saket_Badola keep it up.
@anil_baluni ji pls get roads repaired fm ur MPLADF
This needs to be said: We are at Jim Corbett and apparently there is no restriction on loud music till 10:30pm in the night. The roads are full of cars speeding around, at least 30 jeeps plying in one area of the forest, you can see brunt land on both sides and massive tree felling.
So guilty of attending a family wedding here, I cannot say. There’s one I skipped because I didn’t want to be a party to destroying the habitat of animals. But why is Uttarakhand government allowing weddings in a forest reserve? I know my tweet will have zero reaction but

Just days b4 the #RaisinaDialogue2026 lights up New Delhi, a US submarine torpedoes an Iranian warship in India’s backyard—the Indian Ocean. This bold strike casts a heavy shadow over Delhi’s ambitions to lead the IOR. Will it force a recalibration? #IndianOceanGeopolitics

Officials state no confirmed casualty involving Indian-flagged vessels has been verified so far, and coordination continues between maritime authorities, the Indian Navy and diplomatic missions as the situation develops. @MEAIndia@PMOIndia@DrSJaishankar@shipmin_india
