@fuzzyyarns@IndieWire@ryanlattanzio Great insight! Pros and cons of this approach but I certainly like this style. And that tells a lot about director's ability to see the entire movie in his mind before it's made.
This photograph, captured between 1885 and 1886, features Ella Harper.
Harper was afflicted with an extremely rare medical condition known as congenital genu recurvatum, causing her knees to bend in the opposite direction. Consequently, she found it more comfortable to move on all fours.
In 1886, Harper took on the role of a performer in a circus. Her earnings were reported to be $200 a week, an amount equivalent to over $6,500 in today's money. The pitch card - a bio card circulated among circus spectators - included the following details about her:
"I am called the camel girl because my knees turn backward. I can walk best on my hands and feet as you see me in the picture. I have traveled considerably in the show business for the past four years and now, this is 1886 and I intend to quit the show business and go to school and fit myself for another occupation."
Marlon Brando's transformation through makeup for the role of Don Vito Corleone in the 1972 film 'The Godfather' is truly stunning.
The film, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, is widely considered one of the greatest movies in cinematic history, and Brando's portrayal of the mafia boss is often hailed as one of his most iconic performances.
The makeup work done for Brando's character played a significant role in bringing Don Vito Corleone to life on the big screen.
@fasc1nate In 1973, Marlon Brando rejected his Oscar for The Godfather to allow Sacheen Littlefeather to protest Hollywood's portrayal of Native Americans.
Grateful to Christopher Côté for sharing more of his perspectives on Killers of the Flower Moon. Dusted off my old podcast for this convo. https://t.co/EhAz0J7Z1K
@Songstress28 A feature film “The Birds Who Fear Death” starring Adam Beach and Graham Greene is in works - told against the backdrop of cancer crisis in Fort Chip. I’d like to discuss with you, Brandi.
@normwilner "James Gunn Gets It" dropped in my inbox; thanks for sharing it. Physical media is becoming less important daily, and we need to revive it - thanks for doing your part, Norm! For my daughter's birthday, I will buy a Blu-ray disc of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and do my part.
I watched "What's Love Got to Do With It?" and I must say it's such an entertaining film; this can be a fascinating eye-opener to many. Watch it!
Congrats @shekharkapur and team.
