@Pirat_Nation CCFL-backlit LCD panels had better uniformity than current LED-Edge lit LCD panels, but they were bulky and used a lot of power and heated a lot. You could even see the heat distortion over the vents of large 30in models.
@MaxSettingsYT@strbiak@ghost_motley AMD said the new sensor placement allows more accurate control of the temperatures, so they are more trustworthy than the old ones. I don't know where you got the idea that somehow AMD used worse sensors or placed them far away from hotspots, it makes no sense.
@ChristianSelig Everybody hates classic mate. But the other two are great. Customers should have the choice to have glossy monitors too, but stop pretending they are better under any condition. They are not.
@ChristianSelig There are like 3 types of "matte" displays currently. Classic matte which is terrible, the new lighter matte, which is actually very good, but available only on AUO and very recent LG displays, and the new amazing semi-glossy finish, as seen on the new LG WOLED dual mode monitor.
@TFTCentral Are the PWM readings consistent across all brightness levels and modes? It's normal to have different PWM values across different brightness levels (including things like "under 50% PWM, over 50% DC"). Different behaviour on HDR mode is also common.
my hardware-programmer father has lectured me about "software programmers getting lazier faster than CPUs getting faster"
we have these GHz CPUs, and tens of GB of RAM, but if the software gets less efficient faster than the hardware improving; then old tech seems "snappy"
