@Hoodie_Milly@lthlnkso then he's not making $600/2000 by himself, its a process of which he is a part. He may be adding only $85 to the total value, in which case $71 is not that bad
there's actually a really good tax arb here:
i need my roof re-tiled, but i'm not in a rush. i'm ok with having it done a year from now. i open a prediction market for whether someone will fix my roof and load the market price of the service into "no".
i talk to some roofers and find someone to take the job. they bet on the other side of the market.
a year later, they complete the job, and the market resolves to yes. because they invested in the prediction market over a year ago, they can report long-term capital gains on the income.
because they're taxed less than they would be on regular income, they can offer me a lower price and we both win.
thanks prediction markets!
prediction markets will replace buying stuff.
i want someone to bring kiwis to my house.
i make a prediction market about whether someone will deliver 4 kiwis to my doorstep and load $15 into "no". a guy with an ebike sees it and picks up some kiwis.
before dropping them off on my doorstep, he bets yes. he drops them off. the market resolves to "yes" and he gets $15.
rest in peace, amazon, doordash, ubereats, etc.
