It was a great opportunity to showcase some of the innovative work being undertaken at CUH and explain the diversity of our roles in the NHS #CUHproud#teampharmacy

@drLouDunsmure@CUH_NHS @CUH_Pharmacy @RDI_Systems Thanks Lou! It was a labour of love that never got to see the light of day thanks to COVID, but pleased to be making its post pandemic debut. 😉
It was great to finally get the chance to utilise our specially designed Antibiotic Awareness Wall #WAAW2022#AntibioticGuardian@CUH_NHS @CUH_Pharmacy
and the recently acquired hand scanners for checking the effectiveness of our hand hygiene @RDI_Systems

The UK entered the pandemic with ~3750 adult ICU beds. >750 of them have been occupied by patients with COVID since late July 2021: equivalent of ~46 ICUs just for COVID. These beds were all needed before the pandemic & this is not sustainable.

Medical students are the prescribers of the future, but there's been little focus on training them in antimicrobial stewardship... Until now! @doctorsanjay explores our great new initiative, part of the Keep Antibiotics Working undergraduate programme: https://t.co/8chVikQMcu
Fast food chains helped stop the overuse of #antibiotics on chickens. So @McDonalds committing to reduce antibiotics in their beef supply was big news. They're now a year late on their timeline. Join us in calling them to meet their commitment #WAAW https://t.co/nICHMADl3a
Nurses in human & animal health have a key role in antimicrobial stewardship. Take the pledge & become an antibiotic guardian – together we can all make a difference! @BVNAUK@SAPGabx@AntibioticScot#WAAW#antibioticguardian#onehealth https://t.co/KiGDhRw8KB
I’m no engineer but utilising quality #oxygenconcentrators in hospitals rather than using #OxygenCylinders seems like the way forward. Costs can of course be prohibitive in resource poor countries. Our thoughts are with you India. #COVIDSecondWaveInIndia
There is urgent need to manufacture small low cost #Oxygenconcentrators for Hospitals . This will save them the reliance on big Oxygen suppliers. This should be Portable Light Weight and with limited filter cleaning. Big Industries should be roped in immediately
THREAD on VARIANTS, VACCINES & POTENTIAL FUTURES:
I’ve been looking at data on sequenced variants. I’ve also been thinking about our vax programme & India.
TLDR: the Indian variant needs to trigger surge testing in England. And India needs to be on red list. 1/23
So proud of the wonderful @minihooli awarded an @CNOEngland Silver Award today for her invaluable contribution to infection control during the pandemic - well done & thank you Chris from everyone @CUH_NHS !@LorraiSzeremeta #COVID-19
