@AndyBurnhamGM This is the state of today’s Northern timetable on Macc to Piccadilly line. How are we supposed to get to work? You’ve made driving very difficult and no, cycling isn’t an option and neither is 2 hours on a bus.
@AndyBurnhamGM@northernassist Northern Rail are cr@p and you know this. So instead of sorting them first, you tear up the City Centre putting in cycle lanes/one way systems, making driving to and from work a nightmare … 20-40 mins to drive from Quay St to Liverpool St. Ridiculous
@karenfthompson I think I’ve still got one somewhere (in the box obvs) given to me by my mum! Given I don’t cook, I don’t think it’s seen the light of day since I was gifted it! 😂
… how terribly difficult everything is for the elderly, who aren’t IT literate and don’t have a smart phone … it really is verging on age discrimination - as if the old folk don’t matter. Very unfair
My 88yo mum is now on her own after losing dad this year. They were married 67 years and had an old school relationship. Dad worked, sorted out all the money/bills etc and was reasonably good with digital stuff last 5yrs … she was a SAHM 1/3
When he died, she was totally in the dark about everything. I was able to help with most things on her behalf - via online and also on the phone. The thing that struck me most is how reliant on digital and call centres banks, utilities are and … 2/3
@toadmeister HS2 from Manchester was going to save 20 mins on a trip to London … is 20 mins really worth the additional £xxbn it was going to cost the tax payer? I can’t see the benefit (and yes, I travel Manchester to London regularly)
@HumansNoContext No mobile phones/social media. My friends and I were in our late teens to mid 20s in the 80s … we just embraced the (very many) moments, instead of posturing for likes/sm posts. Great times!
@10DowningStreet @SteveBakerHW Those who can’t do it online (ie elderly/vulnerable ) still have to phone. A receptionist fills in the triage form for them … if they’re lucky, there’s a call back with a time for a virtual appt … f2f appts are like hens teeth!
@JaneotN In UK, called them “ski pants” 😂 and M&S sold the best black ones! I remember going clubbing , rockin’ a pair of these bad boys with black patent riding boots and black beaded & sequinned corset. Whole outfit cost me a month’s salary so wore it on repeat 🤦♀️#ChanellingMadonna
@hand_conor I agree with you in principle, but it’s not a practical option for all Gtr MCR residents. I don’t live too far from the city centre - the bus takes 1hr 25 mins, the train c. 20 mins (if it’s running 🙄), I can drive there in 35 mins on a good day!
@flyabout7@AldiUK I bought one for one of our cats … the big fluffy boy. Will he lie on it? Erm no!! I’ve even tried covering it in newspaper (his favourite place to lie when I’m reading it!) 🙄 He’s not very bright!!!
@ask_aubry Why does what you wear to church change anything? If you’re a good (add faith here) and you believe your G@d or pastor/vicar etc is going to judge a girl/woman for wearing pants rather than what’s in their heart, it’s not a religion I’d want to be a part of.
