Last week I completed my BEd at Lakehead U with honours, having both in class experiences & out, but fell in love with outdoor ed! Now, excited to share that this week I stated my Masters of Ed in Environmental Sustainability at Lakehead U! Looking forward to great things ahead🌿
Look how these barn quilts look fully assembled! The perimeter has 8 tiles, representing learning in daily work. The center is the final product, informed by assessment as learning including scaffolded transformational skills, mind map & rough draft! So proud of this unit!
Pure substances and mixtures fun with our final lesson with @SaraLayton7 making ice cream- there was some pop up parental chocolate chip thieves...but it was tons of fun @masonville_ps
Students compleated their culminating task in our substances health unit while creating a 2 page spread. Here we made connections to mental health & body image, addiction & resources for help. All while implementing a wide variety of text features including purpose & location.
My grade 7 placement has been lots of fun, especially as we've been working with substances & mixtures in our new science unit. Right now students are using scientific inquiry skills to investigate the observational properties of household substances using their 5 senses!
Wow grade 7's learned alot throughout this unit! In our culminating task students described and preformed translations, reflections and rotations on a Cartesian plane while using the elements & principles of design in art to communicate their ideas in these barn quilt tiles!
So exciting to see these tessellation designs starting to come together in students draft work! Here, we are working to create a 'barn tile' design using various transformations like: rotations, reflections & translations all on a Cartesian plane. @MsM_Marvelous7s@masonville_ps
Working with 2 page spreads within my grade 7 placement. Thinking about balance & impact of text features as we 'unscramble' puzzle pieces & describe location & purpose! Students prepare to make their own 2 page spread for the health unit Substance use & abuse @masonville_ps
Grade 7's have been working hard on their Thrill Ride blue print designs and construction! Can't want to see their presentations next week and if their egg (representing the human brain) survives! @masonville_ps@MsM_Marvelous7s
Fun process art project in Grade 7 with @MsM_Marvelous7s where they used bubble wrap to create the technicolor tree leaves, added details into the birch bark trunk and paint splatters for falling snow in the night landscape🎨
Amazing learning opportunities in my Grade 7 placement! Today we started our Movement & Location unit in math. We explored plotting coordinates pairs on a Cartesian plane and thought about the relationship between coordinates pairs & the four quadrants while playing battleship🚢
This was my favorite project with my Kindergarteners. A combination of language, art, media literacy and social emotional development within this project as we explored The Best Part of Me while boosting our self confidence!
Exciting to see the students take initiative in practicing mindfulness & self-reg. Students demonstrate ability to manage their own energy states, emotions, behaviours, & attention in ways that are socially acceptable & help achieve positive goals such as positive relationships.
In this minds on, students investigate three-dimensional figures while considering classifying and describing how objects can be collected, grouped, and organized according to similarities and differences such as size and colour.
