Students are tired. Physically and soulfully. They don’t just need sleep, they need deep rest.
Normalize this by speaking truth to the emotional toll of the pandemic layered on top of the feat of earning a degree or diploma.

Perpetual doing gives no time for rest.
What if self care wasn’t a thing on the to do list. What if it took the form of not doing?
As fall prepares for hibernation consider how this winding down might prepare you for deep rest and care.
Shift from all or nothing thinking towards the idea that two things can be true at the same time. We can experience excitement and fear, grief and joy, confidence and insecurity all at once. #tuesdayvibe
Being wildly successful doesn’t mean the absence of pain and suffering. You never know what people are carrying behind the outward appearance of success. Be curious. Be kind.
When we care for others we tend to base it on our own needs. True care meets the needs of the recepient.
Ask:
What does support look like to you?
How can I provide care in a way that best honours your needs?
Can I support you by (insert action)?
I’m here and ready when you are.
Don’t judge your worth by the highlight reels that are spinning on social media right now.
You aren’t the sum of what you accomplished this year.
You are worthy of celebrating just for being you, for showing up and being brave with your life.
#NewYear
Bad bosses punish time off. They see vacations as a lack of dedication to work.
Good bosses grant time off. They see vacations as a source of energy for work.
Great bosses insist on time off. They see vacations as a right, not a reward—they care about your life beyond work.
Rest isn’t earned through hustle or exhaustion. No amount of effort or productivity makes you more worthy.
You deserve rest just for showing up and being you.

@KellyFox1219 I use strategies that invite each voice (talking circles). Or, invite each student to share one or two words circling through each student so more voices can be heard. Sometimes I even ask for a voice we haven’t heard yet or for those who often share to take a purposeful pass.
Discipline and motivation are not enough if the environment is not a right fit for you.
Thriving and productivity happen in environments where there is a sense of belonging, feeling valued, and clear meaning and purpose.

People over product. This rings true for gratitude as well.
It’s important to express gratitude for the end product. (I see and am grateful for what you did)
Gratitude for who people are and how they show up is even more important. (I see you and am grateful for who you are)
Meet yourself where you’re at today. Even if it’s in the messy middle of life. Lean into self compassion. Be gentle and kind to yourself and accepting of where you are. 💚
What do leaders who are exceptional communicators do? 1) Use short words to talk about hard things 2) Choose powerful metaphors to reinforce key concepts 3) Humanise data by putting numbers in perspective 4) "Overcommunicate" the mission: https://t.co/xvtWNIWoHS By @carminegallo
