Thank you to everyone in the NHS Highland team and coach @Bevfraser40 for the time you gave me and insights you shared. I'm very lucky to have this role. The theory is one thing, but so impressive finding ways to make value management work in practice for you.
NHS Highland Easter Ross Community Mental Health Team have made value management part of the way they work.
They have adapted to overcome the communication challenges posed by remote working in a rural area.

I'm 43 now, and I've now seen three distinct phases in my life regarding attitudes towards gender/sex. Here's a handy guide for determining which one is the correct take:
1) Pre-1990ish: "Little Billy can't play with dolls b/c he's a boy and everyone knows boys don't play with dolls" ❌
2) 1990-2010: "Little Billy can play with dolls if he wants, boys can play with dolls. It doesn't make him any less of a boy" ✅
3) 2010 - Present : "Little Billy IS a girl because he plays with dolls, because everyone knows boys don't play with dolls" ❌
As we can see, #2 is the correct choice. #1 and #3 are examples of toxic right wing gender norms, and toxic left wing gender norms, respectively.
That's the funny thing about gender ideology; despite its adherents loud claims that they are somehow smashing traditional gender-based norms and stereotypes, they're actually rigidly enforcing them.
The truly enlightened viewpoint is that there is no right or wrong way to be a boy or girl and kids should feel free to explore and play with whatever they want without activists with an agenda slapping an inappropriate label on them and forcing them into a pathway towards lifelong medicalization and dependency on Big Pharma.

Please take two mins to watch this video from the TUC depicting how political decisions since 2010 have all but destroyed our once-great NHS, as waiting lists have soared from 4 to 7.5 million. It’s heartbreaking 😔
I won’t stand by whilst this shameless Government tries to walk all over the junior doctors who sacrificed so much to keep us safe during the pandemic. If you stand with our Junior doctors please RT this widely. Let’s make sure the public know the FACTS
My role as an NHS "pen pusher" meant our psychiatrists didn't have to type & send multiple clinic letters or referrals a day, book appointments and deal with routine queries - freeing up their time to see more patients. Admin staff keep the NHS turning. This headline is gross.
People don’t actually resist change. We know this as people change voluntarily all the time. So if we accept that those we work with aren’t resisting change in general, let's find out what the specific issues with this change might be: https://t.co/xM8CxmdFFW By @TurnerChangeMgt
@DanHarley3 No one should be surprised that determinants of mental health are socio-economic and inequalities are esp toxic. And that we need to look "upstream"...beyond individuals for effective measures to at least protect, ideally nurture all health & wellbeing. Love the plant analogy!
Collaboration ("performing a variety of synchronous & asynchronous acts that are in tension & harmony with each other") takes a lot of time & energy so it needs to deliver outcomes. Research report into what makes people & teams collaborate well: https://t.co/gXYo8Cmup1 By @figma

"Patient safety improves in organizations with fair &just cultures that value transparency, openness, honesty, learning, & accountability at system &
individual level. Criminalizing medical error creates environments &cultures of fear &blame ...and makes patients less safe" IHI

So much to think about - care as a relationship core to human thriving- "care shd be as normal as the weekend"; as coaching or teaching, it's not a good or service, not a helping economy but a relationship econ; can't be measured in time. And massively undervalued. #realchallenge
NEW: A radical new vision for social care
How should we care for one another? And what might it take to turn our current thinking about care on its head?
We've published the second #REALChallenge annual lecture, delivered by @HilaryCottam. Read now 🔽
https://t.co/nMrxEgromd
@HilaryCottam says that the focus is too often on designing pathways into/out of care systems, and how care is funded - we need to talk more about the stuff of care itself, informed by new stories, new ways of working and seeing, new data and accounting. #REALChallenge
Most guys don’t look in the mirror & see a problem. But it’s staring us in the face. Sexual violence begins long before you think it does. #DontBeThatGuy
