According to local sources, civilians were killed during military operations carried out by the junta in Nyaung Lay Pin District, an area under the Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 3, after troops launched attacks on several villages in the township.
On March 5, a military column led by Light Infantry Battalion No. 264, based in Pein Zalote, reportedly entered villages in Nyaung Lay Pin Township, Bago Region. Residents said the troops raided several communities, including Kyaung Gone, Dala Seik, and Yay Twin Gone villages, while carrying out drone strikes and air attacks. Ground troops also entered villages during the operation.
Local sources reported that at least 25 civilians, including women and children, were killed during the attacks.
Drone images released on March 9 by the Karen Peace Support Network (KPSN) reportedly show bodies of civilians in Yay Twin Gone village and nearby areas, indicating the scale of the violence during the military operation.
Additional reports state that five local men from Htee Pulu and Wet Chae villages were arrested and later killed by the troops.
Residents also reported that during the raids, approximately 160 villagers were detained by the military. The villagers are said to have been confined inside a local village school building and, according to sources, remain under detention.
Local communities fear further violence as military operations continue in the area.

Myanmar junta regime committed another massacre in Bago region
09 March 2026
Recent evidence has surfaced indicating another massacre perpetrated by the Myanmar junta regime. Local villagers in Nyianglaypin township of the Bago region have discovered a disturbing collection of bodies, victims of a military operation executed by junta forces on Thursday last week.
The Karen Peace-Support Network (KPSN) has asserted that the junta regime has engaged in egregious acts that amount to crimes against humanity, having reportedly killed at least 25 villagers from Laydo village following the arrest of more than 160 individuals from surrounding areas.
KPSN attributes responsibility for this atrocity to the junta's light infantry battalion 264, based at the Pinzayet military facility as they launched military operation in the area on 05 March 2026.
Thousands of innocent citizens have been brutally murdered by the junta regime whenever they launch military operations across many regions in the country, while the world is silently watching this repeatedly happening.
