@DazNewman The potential for an indirect discrimination claim is in my experience not widely know by employers or employees, and as such, they are regularly turned down despite that risk. Rights are only as good as their enforcement mechanisms.
Govt brave/stupid to think it can define safe minimum levels of staffing for strike action in the NHS. Will then inevitably discover local hospitals routinely breach them due to staff shortages/absence. Making a big stick to beat themselves with there.
4A*s isn't usually an effective shield against sexually predatory behaviour, no, and I can't remember anyone at my school suggesting that if I just worked hard enough, I'd be magically rape-proof.
What Dr Hilton fails to realise is that his letter quietly reveals himself.
He seems angry at lots of women entering his profession.
To his fury, he knows they are there on merit, so his very last crumb of attack is: AND THEY CANT *EVEN* WITHSTAND SEXUALLY INAPPROPRIATE ACTIONS
Sarah, thank you! The quality of the content you shared, distilling legal jargon into language that everyone understands was incredible. Your talk resulted in one of the most engaged audiences we've ever seen. It was a huge success and it was a privilege to have you! ❤️
The UK’s Statutory Maternity Pay is relatively ungenerous compared to other rich countries - and this mostly impacts low-paid workers, as higher-paid employees are often offered more generous occupational schemes. Read more in our latest report: https://t.co/Ak8BOp9FK4
Er, this gets a 'may contain sensitive content' warning. I hate to disappoint but it's a video of the Manchester skyline... I'm so old I don't have a video of my first love 😃
I have just joined @PregnantScrewed and thoroughly recommend it. Their work just gets better and better, the childcare campaign, the workers' rights improvements.....I know they will provide real bang for the buck if you can afford any donation.
@Oriannarosa@FortuneMagazine Hi Orianna, I'm a solicitor representing employees & I specialise in discrimination, burnout, bullying & harassment, unfair dismissal & redundancy.
Unfortunately whilst the Minister for Women and Equalities appears to refuse to acknowledge that discrimination exists, is a social ill that impacts on us all, and that government has a responsibility to solve, we won't get far.
To all you #menopause warriors out there wondering why progress is so slow, watch this 👇
The Minister for women and equalities argues wanting women to be supported through menopause in the workplace is left-wing and makes disparaging remarks about people with red hair.
@RichardMoorhead This is a marvellous appointment, well deserved, & congratulations. Please can I suggest that you oversee some more diverse appointees to join you as well?
@GeorgieR30 I think the ability to produce a whole new human being is wonderous. It's a top bod, that can do that (although with full respect to those who can't or choose not to as well). Anyone who wants to make a new mother feel anything other than a marvel can get in the bin.
