@jeifling@historycomics Whole-heartedly second from my chest. Use it. I love that it's wordless AND that it uses the literary device of a framing story for multiple accounts of reasons to leave one's homeland.
@lenalily227@abughazalehkat I don't know you, but my heart hurts for you. Thank you for sharing "it's not just strangers/bars." My kids need to hear this.
@TheSpaceGal@TSA@UnrollThread I am so sorry this happened, and frustrated that this is a reality that goes unrecognized by the "but just breastfeed" responders to the formula shortage.
@amyignatow The first time my boy saw it, during the opening as Maria sings and dances through trees and chucks rocks in the stream, he exclaimed, "She's scaring the fish!"
I'm going back through Red Mars (Robinson, 1992) again, and today watching NASA's Perseverance Rover Landing. So much to think about. #CountdownToMars#MarsRover2020
@AlyshondraM It really IS so hard. Don't beat yourself up because you didn't do it sooner. Seriously. You'll have to lovingly stop that noise. Be glad you ARE doing it. Be glad for your better future. You have already done a hard thing for yourself: Hooray!
Click through (and through) for clip of John Lewis's National Book Award 2016 acceptance speech. This pair of tweets is precious to me for so many reasons - justice, books, libraries, literacy, teachers, authors, mothers, recognition, honor.
I was there, and I always cite this as the biggest moment in my career. To watch my mother watch John Lewis win. I remember finding @NicolaYoon afterward and joking about how none of us could be mad about losing to him. Iβll never forget it.
I'm thankful this is not always true. The words "I am morally obligated to X" have come out of my mouth multiple times in the last month, and I have heard these sentiments from others I personally know and admire.
What things do *you* feel obligated to do?
@plannerdanzack@SFGlobeTrekker@chetoos08 Chinese elm CAN occasionally drop huge branches - we had one fall on our garage in Bakersfield, and from the same tree, another branch almost take out a car in the driveway. Granted, it could have been that particular tree's issue, but I'd want to be sure before planting.
@JasonReynolds83 I just now went through the transcript with an open tab for my public library, and requested or recommended (or when lucky, borrowed right now!) every book except Dry, which I've recently read and recommended to a friend. Thanks for this list!
We could read them and then pass them on via our neighborhood's Little Free Library! Thanks, @Jarrett_Lerner ! You have impressed me more and more with your generosity and kindness.
Kids need books for summer reading!
So, Iβm giving away 50 signed, doodled-in copies of each of the first 2 books in my EngiNerds series (25 of each here, 25 of each on Instagram)!
If you want these books, and can get them into kidsβ hands, RT/follow to enter to win them!
@seananmcguire Surprisingly appropriate for us - my teen and I are trying to each talk the other into holding the purring kitten while the arguer goes to the bathroom.
@FS_NAACP Thank you - I was far enough from the speaker / amplifier that I couldn't hear well, but I wanted to know what was said. Thank you for posting!
