For the past week, I’ve been following the nationwide IRS layoffs. I’ve done stories with a congressman and the IRS union president for Austin.

Today, I spoke with someone directly impacted - a local veteran.

Austin police say a stolen phone may have sparked this crash.

4 people were hurt after a car slammed into pedestrians, then into a food truck.

APD believes the driver intentionally tried running into the father of her child, because she thought he stole her phone. @KXAN_News

A security member at a Burnet County church was arrested for allegedly lying to law enforcement about firing at armed suspects.

I had a one-on-one with the church’s senior leader to get his response to the hoax. @KXAN_News

Separate cases connected with DNA. @Austin_Police announced it found a DNA link between two homicides.

They believe one man is behind both killings that are 6 years apart and in different counties.

We spoke with one victim’s mother about the news.

The @austinhumane activated its emergency pet shelter to help with #HurricaneBeryl 🌀

Their team went to the Texas coast and evacuated 96 cats and dogs from a shelter there. All of them are ready for adoption!

Just spoke with Pflugerville City Council Member Kimberly Holiday about her friend Ara Duke, who was killed during Saturday’s Juneteenth event in Round Rock.

Holiday (left) described Duke (right) as a bright light in her community who will be dearly missed.

After 40 years in business, the Austin Antique Mall closes today.

The 30,000 square-foot space will be used as an extension for Playland Skate Center next door.

About 90 vendors have a month to clear out their booths. Some will move to an antique mall in Taylor.

Heyman’s attorney said he was arrested this week and then fired yesterday.

San Marcos was hit hard by tonight’s severe weather.

Winds brought down tree branches and limbs.

We ran into the Hays County Judge in front of his home. He tells me the countywide clean up is already starting.
