What a great quote. I think we could add on to this include curriculum is not built for learning as well. As much as I love a good instruction guide and handbook, it isn't the best way.

@MrsBisfromKC Learned helplessness is one of the biggest struggles I face with my students, especially since Covid. One way I combat this is with our genius hour or with PBL. Most of the time students pick a topic I know absolutely nothing about and they are sort of forced to help themselves.

@MissTateMidkiff As teachers we need to watch students overcome challenges and not just jump in. Sometimes the challenge they are facing is just thier confidence getting in the way.
