@Wa08847510@j_k_knox The 'value for money' aspect is interesting. So quick to invest in tech solutions, so slow to invest in school infrastructure and staff. Maybe it's because slick- looking 'solutions' can be visibly delivered within the re-election timeframe? #cidedata
@j_k_knox Who does education serve? IMO it should be the learners always front and centre. Mistakes = learning so they need time to fail and re-try, fail and re-try... THEN succeed. But who wants to fail when it's always documented? #thebestlearningisugly#cidedata
@j_k_knox For sure. Most years we use something new, invest time to make it work only to find there are insurmountable flaws. Off the peg solutions don't usually meet our needs, but when they do we become digital hostages tied to that platform. #cidedata
Just how effective can, for example, GDPR be in tackling big data concerns, such as harvesting tweets? Who can / could / should / has the jurisdiction to be policing this? Maybe by people voting with their (virtual) feet? #mastodonmigration#cidedata
@j_k_knox@triciawang had some interesting thoughts on this in her #tedtalk . There's so much 'thick data' and context that is missed when we only focus on the measurable. https://t.co/Y2ubTSOoMh #cidedata
@j_k_knox I think she's referencing the commonly held belief that digital ed is easier to access and distribute, and cheaper to administer than its analog counterparts. As a teacher, not sure I entirely agree either! #cidedata#notallcostsarefinancial
