I'm delighted to announce the first published study of my PhD project, in PLOS ONE, with @nerualtrawets, @matskussner and @DianaOmigie, investigating the content and consistency of music-induced visual mental imagery!

Delighted to share that our (with @matskussner@SarahHashim16@cerenayyildiz4) project on using music-induced mental imagery to alleviate feelings of loneliness in older adults was funded (2yrs) by the @DAAD_Germany and @uniaus under the AU/GER Joint Research Cooperation Scheme

A thematic analysis of visual imagery descriptions showed music-induced visual imagery to be often story-like (incl. mentions of emotional reactions, other imagery modalities, and references to media) and generally more consistent within individuals than across others 💭🎶👁️
Next up in paper session #4 on music & the brain, we have Sarah Hashim presenting "A Probe-caught Neurophysiological Investigation of Visual Imagery During Extended Listening." 💭
We are recruiting for an EEG experiment on music-induced relaxation and imagery (~£20 reward)! 🧠🎶 If you're interested and from @GoldsmithsUoL (or live around the area), please complete our pre-screening survey:

This is frankly an extraordinary technological achievement. But it hits the uncanny valley for me more than any other hand video I've seen, perhaps because of the apparent lack of impact on contact? What are your thoughts?
Very excited about my first published paper with @nerualtrawets and @matskussner, a project during my year at @mmbgoldsmiths! We found saccadic eye movements reduce instances of visual mental imagery and partly reduce felt emotion during music listening

I think we'd all feel much better if we instead saw bad code as a form of contemporary art. Unused functions? Surrealism. Mixing tabs and spaces? Postmodern. My code isn't spaghetti, it's avant-garde
Please help us develop a new #musicscience questionnaire on mental imagery during music listening by taking part in this survey! Completion time: 15 to 40 minutes depending on your personal listening experience.

We'd be very grateful if you could spare some minutes to take part in our short online survey on music and visual imagery for @SarahHashim16's PhD project: https://t.co/wJunHRbtft
