On #WorldEnvironmentDay, the message is more relevant than ever. In an era of climate change, emerging diseases, and ecological challenges, the concept of One Health has become the new global imperative. Human health, animal health, and environmental well-being are deeply interconnected. Protecting nature is no longer just an environmental responsibility—it is essential for safeguarding our collective future.
When CPI(M) is elected to power, there are long debates about a woman CM and rightfully so.
When INC is elected to power, there is barely a whisper about it. It’s just a bunch of men publicly scrambling for the top post.
Therein lies the difference.
Hand hygiene remains the single most effective way to prevent the spread of infections in healthcare settings and protect patients.
As Dr Catharina Boehme, Officer-in-Charge, WHO South-East Asia, highlights, this goes beyond individual responsibility. It requires:
🧴 Access to essential supplies
👩⚕️ Trained and empowered health workers
🔄 Strong behaviour change strategies
📊 Monitoring systems that ensure accountability
Because safer care starts with clean hands.

Things I loved in Mumbai?
Chai with bun maska, vada pav, and pav bhaji that could fix a bad day in 3 bites.
I believe in 'Roti and Respect', but stepping into South India... Bhai, that's a whole different league; like India unlocked its 'heaven mode', trust me, it's MORE beautiful.
A healthy planet is essential for healthy people.
Across South-East Asia, environmental risks like air pollution, extreme heat and unsafe water continue to affect lives every day.
Protecting our environment isn’t just about nature. It is about preventing disease, saving lives and building healthier communities for all.

Immunization remains one of the most powerful and cost-effective public health interventions, saving an estimated 4.4 million lives every year.
At the 'Regional Consultation on Vaccine and Immunization Research Preparedness for Vaccine-Preventable Disease Outbreaks and Pandemics in the WHO South-East Asia Region', Dr Catharina Boehme, Officer-in-Charge, WHO South-East Asia, delivered the opening address highlighting that while the Region has eliminated or controlled 18 vaccine-preventable diseases in one or more Member States and produces over 40% of the world’s vaccines, these strengths must now translate into timely, high-impact research.
To strengthen pandemic readiness, we must:
🔬 Strengthen research preparedness
🤝 Foster regional collaboration
📊 Invest in data, modelling, and regulatory alignment

There are many citizen journalists, but very few journalist citizens. Dr Roy will forever remain both a standard and an inspiration for journalism in India.
I don’t think people around the world realize how bad the attack on Lebanon was today. It’s BAD. Like 9/11 BAD. Hospitals are overflowing and do not have enough blood. We still don’t know what the death toll is.
This is TERRORISM. Pure and Simple.
April 8. Never forget.

Really sad that Raghav Chadha has been asked to step down before he could raise many more important issues like how cheese in Dominos Cheese Burst Pizza has gone down drastically 😠
