Heartbroken doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Catherine O’Hara was one of a kind. A rare light in this world and her passing hits with a weight I can’t fully put into words.
She wasn’t just a legendary artist,
actor and comedian. She was an ambassador for Canada in the truest sense: brilliant, fearless, deeply original, and so full of humanity. She made the world laugh, but she also made people feel seen.
As an artist, she inspired me more than she’ll ever know. She set the bar for what it means to represent your country with excellence and grace and all without ever losing warmth or humility.
My heart is broken for her family, her loved ones, and everyone who adored her, both here in Canada and around the world.
If you’re grieving this loss, you’re not alone. We’re all holding a piece of this sadness together.
Rest easy, Catherine. Thank you for everything. 🇨🇦❤️

Extended summer break in Toronto → diverted my LA flight to SF this morning on a whim for #SFTechWeek. Best call.
Loved kicking things off at the Women in Tech Summit with @GreylockVC x Gap HQ — amazing speakers, smart women, and incredible energy. ✨ @Techweek_
Lots of initiatives to build a stronger, better 🇨🇦:

2025 is certainly off to an edgy start - definitely feeling all the feels as a Canadian (H1B spouse) living in LA. Gratitude for all of the friends reaching out, donating and sharing stories 🙏
Dave Chappelle ended his SNL monologue with a plea to Trump:
"Whether people voted for you or not, they're all counting on you. Please, all of us, do better next time. Don't forget your humanity, & have empathy for displaced people, whether they're in the Palisades or Palestine"
LA is not an easy town to survive in, no matter what ur tax bracket is. We’re all one tragedy away 4rm losing it all. People work multiple jobs to maintain. To all the outside folks that have something negative to say, u’d never make it here & that’s why u don’t live here.
While Trump attacks Canada and Trudeau, Canadian water-bomber planes are right now in Los Angeles helping fight the devastating fires. Canada is our friend, ally and partner.
Somone just asked me, “Are you safe and okay?”
Well, I’m safely evacuated. No power so I can’t go home, but okay? I wouldn’t say that. I don’t know that anyone affected by these fires is okay. No one who lost their home is okay. Not those who evacuated, not those in hotels or at neighbors. People maybe be physically safe but they are not okay.
🥹🙏💔 this is where I fell in love with LA (and my now husband)!
Grateful to the first responders, firefighters, LAPD and everyone trying their best!
For anyone who needs a space, please contact me. My home in WeHo is available for you.
