I'm very excited to share our new paper studying a unique specimen of Olenoides serratus from the Burgess Shale! @InvertebratePal and I showed how these specialized appendages could be used by an adult male to grasp onto a female during mating https://t.co/0hpEUZ8nMD
How did trilobites mate? In one species, Olenoides serratus, the males likely used claspers to grasp the female in a little hug https://t.co/y3i2aZgTQU Research by @SarahLosso1 and @InvertebratePal
🚨Deadline🚨 for registration & abstract submission for the 7th International Conference on Trilobites & Relatives is MARCH 25. @SarahLosso1 and I will chair a session on trilobite soft anatomy & trilobite relatives, feel free to contact us if you want more details.
#MCZinvertpaleo undergrad researchers presented their work today! Jackson Kehoe investigated the relationship between #trilobite pygidium and thorax size, while @MaddiWaskom identified the body position of trilobite fossils on glass slides by comparing them with #CTscan sections.
I swear watching videos of elephants swimming is actually preparation for my upcoming introduction to paleontology course for the Pre-College program. Totally not a distraction.
To academics who are silent right now.. your future students are watching and wondering if you are too uncomfortable to post or RT anything now, will you be too ‘uncomfortable’ to stand up for them.
I know it’s awkward. I know because I lived it. #BlackLivesMatter
Despite the just switching to remote classes and students now having to present on Zoom, one of our students just did the most awesome presentation I have ever seen! It was puppet show about trilobite eggs ! I am so impressed and proud 😁
@InvertebratePal@Thomashegna
For #NationalFossilDay the @HarvardMuseum is hosting a meet a paleontology event today! @rjknecht1 and I will be showing off some of our favorite fossils and handing out some super cool trading cards
I can’t even! @SarahLosso1 just dropped by with the cutest 3D printed Anomalocaris after a visit to the @wyssinstitute :D some seriously cool stuff is brewing here, make sure to keep an eye on her work ;)
Last day of my visit to the Paleobiology Collections at the @NMNH to study trilobite limbs! Back to Boston tomorrow for the second year of my PhD with @InvertebratePal
Do you like trilobites, tea/coffee and talking to invertebrate paleontologists? Come and join us at MCZ Labs for the newly instated Trilobite Tea Time, hosted daily at 3pm! @HarvardOEB@MCZHarvard ☕️
Great first day at @HarvardOEB - Lots of projects to work on with members of the Invertebrate Paleontology lab, @InvertebratePal , @SarahLosso1 and @jopabinia
