@SarahOpenSciEd@OpenSciEd session Great ideas for how to not let “grading get in the way of learning”. But support documenting our journey of sense making & finding ways to grade. Focus on notebooks, discussion & small writing assignments. Hearing from three different teachers.
While I can't have favorites, I love the way that Unit 6.6 gets at cells by thinking about how we heal and how we grow! I think that this unit would have been the biggest value-add when compared to how I used to teach these concepts. #NGSSchat https://t.co/ZSQBrHMqS2
Okay folks, our last question for tonight. This has been a blast!
Q7: What is your favorite phenomenon or activity from the OpenSciEd Middle School units and why? #NGSSchat#MyOpenSciEdStory
Not everyone will have an answer, which is totally ok!
A6: I LOVE seeing teachers from all over the WORLD collaborating and sharing resources and guidance in our Facebook Groups. They are so innovative and generous in how they share their expertise and ideas #NGSSchat https://t.co/P66pGm2Hvv
Q6: Our materials are #OER which means that people are free to share and adapt the materials for any purpose.
- How have you benefited from the ability to freely share adaptations of resources?
- Where do you go to find new ideas and share your innovations?

My favorite thing the @OpenSciEd developers do is ASK the students. We ASK students what is interesting to them before we design the units. Then during the field test we give students exit tickets and ask them if what they did in class was interesting and meaningful. #NGSSchat
@MarkNechanicky Love this description Mark "messy, revisable, needs to communicate and test out". Sounds exactly like how I as an adult still go about making sense of things. #NGSSchat
@DrDSteele_PhD Curious @DrDSteele_PhD what you found when you did this deep dive. Were there particular SEPs/CCCs that were already strong and ones where there were big gaps? Love that this was your approach - super smart. #NGSSchat

@OpenSciEd I'm Sarah Delaney, with @OpenSciEd. I'm a former MS science teacher and District Science Supervisor for SF Unified. I love my job and getting to spend my days supporting science education. #NGSSchat
It’s always a good day when Ss can revisit the #DQB and answer their own questions. ❤️⛰❤️
