@pwharris I thought of 9/8 is 9, 1/8 pieces that will be placed into 2 1/4 groups. Each group takes 4/8 pieces. 8 of the 1/8 pieces would make two whole groups of 4/8 and the last piece is 1 piece of the 4 needed (1/4) to form another group.
@pwharris I first noticed 24 and 16 were multiples of 8, so I envisioned a 2 x 3 array made of blocks of 64 (8x8). 64 in each block x 6 blocks in the array = 360 + 24 = 384.

Teaching virtually from home in 2020, on a “snow day” that closes daycare and provides me with the cutest little coworker, on “candy cane” spirit day looks something like this...

During today’s morning meeting share, we were learning about each other’s favorite and least favorite subjects. I think this kid summed it up right ❤️#mathisagift
Two students discussing yesterday’s math task: A) “It kind of felt like cheating.” B) “It’s not cheating to use your tools to solve problems!”
I love how #Jamboard enables us to see and share student thinking #virtually! #3acttask
I love having @MrsSjHamilton as my morning meeting buddy, especially when we can start off with a #samebutdifferentmath routine! Our kiddos made some amazing connections to multiplication and began to generalize the commutative property!
@LisaWatersFCPS Thank you! I don’t always choose to do a daily math question. It happened sporadically one day and I realized my kiddos needed some number line practice! Since then, I like to look up “This Day in History” for our prompts when I do them. Hope that helps!
