Sindhudesh is an idea of a separate homeland for Sindhis. The movement was conceived by the Sindhi political leader G. M. Syed.He gave a new direction to Sindhi nationalism,founded the Jeay Sindh Tehreek in 1972 and presented the idea of Sindhudesh.

Sain G M Syed, a visionary leader who pioneered the Sindhi freedom movement. He was repeatedly detained and imprisoned by Pakistani authorities, spending more than thirty years without trial or ever being charged. He died in custody in 1995.
