This really is an extraordinary graphic. While we agonise over the impact of releasing a few Beavers back in the landscape, about 50 million non-native Pheasants are released into the environment each year with not much debate at all.

The Govt has committed to protecting 30% of England for nature by 2030, but has a huge way to go - just 3% of the country is properly protected for nature, say @WCL_News.

So why doesn't the state buy more land for nature - including using NE's compulsory purchase powers?
