Brittneyrose Torres was a surrogate carrying triplets, 2 boys and 1 girl.

The buyers told her to abort the girl.

Brittneyrose was to receive at least $25- 30k for carrying one baby and $5,000 extra for carrying two or more in her contract with the parents.

The biological parents claimed the contract included a provision which allowed them to tell Brittneyrose to abort, and they withheld payments unless she ended their daughter’s life.

The parents had been excited about the triplets in the beginning, then around 12 weeks they changed their minds.

Brittneyrose said she offered to adopt the baby girl, but the parents refused.

Price tags. Contracts. Payments.

Surrogacy reduces human beings to products and commodities, to be discarded at the convenience of the buyer.

When my oldest was born, they refused to let me hold her because her oxygen levels were low. But I was persistent, and they eventually relented, allowing her to lay on my chest until the NICU nurse came to roll her away. When the nurse arrived, I asked that they check her oxygen levels one more time before taking her. They did. Oxygen: 100%. Perfect. The nurse shrugged and left. Our baby girl was healthy. She just needed me. My heartbeat, my warmth, my touch. She needed her mom.

Stories like this aren’t rare. Newborns need their moms to regulate their oxygen and heart rate. That’s why, when at all possible, most doctors and hospitals give baby to mom right away.

We know this when it comes to normal births, but when it comes to surrogacy - especially the kind when two men are purchasing a baby from a woman - the baby is immediately and intentionally taken away from his or her mom and given to two strangers. It is not surprising that these babies often undergo complications post-birth. Beyond that, we don’t fully know the physiological and psychological effect of robbing babies of their mothers at birth.

It’s worse treatment than we give puppies and kittens, but when it’s for “inclusion,” it’s celebrated.

Adoption is one thing - it redeems a broken situation. But surrogacy is another - it intentionally creates the broken situation.

Babies’ needs will always matter more than adults’ wants.

Lance Bass and his partner, Michael Turchin, used IVF and surrogacy to obtain a little boy and a little girl.

But their own words reveal something disturbing about the fertility industry.

The women hired as surrogates and the children created are treated as disposable objects—not human beings with inherent worth and dignity.

Here are just a few shocking statements from Lance and Michael on the process of hiring egg donors, surrogates, and creating children…

1. “We got all the way down the path of about to retrieve their eggs… Some just wouldn’t produce enough eggs, some weren’t good genetic matches.” — Michael Turchin

2. “Not only did we need to get a new egg donor now because we found out she had early lupus, but on top of that, when we did our egg retrieval, we only had two healthy embryos... once she miscarried, we had to start all over from scratch again.” — Michael Turchin

3. “[W]e found a new donor and we love the donor, so we have our embryos ready to go right now. Unfortunately, we just lost our surrogate that we’ve had for over two years. And so now begins the process of finding a replacement surrogate...” — Lance Bass

Notice the language: new donor, replacement surrogate, healthy embryos, genetic matches.
This is what happens when human reproduction becomes a commercial process. Women are treated like breeders, selected and replaced according to whether they meet the desired specifications.

Children are treated as products of a system that screens, selects, and manufactures them according to their parent’s wishes and not just embraced for who they are.

The women involved deserve better than to be treated as means to an end. The children involved deserve better than to be treated as products designed to fulfill adult desires.
Every child has inherent dignity. Every woman has inherent dignity.

IVF and surrogacy undermine that dignity by turning human reproduction into a marketplace where adult preferences come first and children's rights are ignored.

We should reject these practices and work toward ending them.

Yet, he and his partner were allowed to buy children via IVF and surrogacy.

In 2014, Shane referred to a 6-year-old girl as “sexy.”

In 2018, Shane admitted to searching for child pornography.

In 2020, a clip of Shane resurfaced showing him pretending to masturbate to a poster of 11-year-old Willow Smith.

Video footage shows Shane coercing a 12-year-old girl into doing a lap dance on someone else while playing a sexually explicit song in the background and telling her to eat a “cocktail weenie” because he has “a lot of child molesters watching.”

In another video, Shane placed a pair of large fake breasts on a 12-year-old girl and made inappropriate requests and comments, including: telling a dog to lick the fake breasts, asking the girl inappropriate questions about her genitals, forcing her to dance on top of a table, and more…

Despite all these facts (caught on video), Shane and his partner, Ryland Adams, were able to use IVF and surrogacy to obtain children.

In February 2023, Shane and Ryland announced they had purchased a woman’s eggs and hired a surrogate to create 12 children, 6 girls & 6 boys.

On December 7th, 2023, they announced the birth of twin boys, Jet & Max.

These twin boys are precious.
Their existence is good.

But they (and their 10 other siblings) are victims of a grave human rights abuse.

Children are not commodities to be recklessly created, intentionally deprived of their mother, and purchased by anyone who has the money to do so—especially someone who has exhibited pedophilic behavior.

We must protect children.
We must ban IVF and surrogacy.
