The afternoon sun beat down mercilessly on the makeshift tents erected overnight in haste. Inside, hundreds of families crammed together in the stifling heat, the acrid smell of sweat hanging thick.

Children cried weakly, exhausted after a night without sleep or nourishment. Their mothers tried shushing them, shooting anxious glances at the armed guards posted all around.

"How long will we be caged like this?" asked Maya desperately. The others, especially #daily #wage earners had no answer, only weary resignation on gaunt faces reflecting years of struggle.

Outside, #luxury cars rolled by carrying finely-dressed #leaders smiling and waving to adoring crowds. But none glimpsed the #Human #misery concealed just meters away.

Was this the progress touted inside the glittering #BharatMandapam? Rambabu wondered angrily. Or mere illusion to indulge VIP egos and photo-ops, trampling the very citizens supposedly being "developed"?

As another day dawned with their confinement extended indefinitely, fury and frustration erupted. These people were no zoomed #animals - they were citizens with basic dignity. How long would powers oppress and neglect them so?

A reckoning was awaiting those deaf to people's plight, feasting on power while citizens starved.
Word of the mass confinement was beginning to spread outside the #curtained borders. Social media filled with angry posts and images smuggled out depicting the inhuman conditions.

International #media crews also got wind, creating an awkward situation for the #ModiGovernment hoping to portray only #achievement and #progress to its #G20 guests.

Global headlines were now ablaze with criticism of the "Potemkin village" tactics used to #beautify #Delhi at the cost of citizens. Modi scrambled to do damage control but truth could not be hidden.

Yet, mass uprisings won't break out across India even though many connected with the betrayal of promise and distrust in leadership, only serving #custodians of #inequality. In fact, Modi's media management has emasculated any types of mass protest movement, eliminated any embers of awakening in long-slumbering paupers of the nation through constant churning of hallucinations.

The storm of protest never arrives, except for the realisation that oppressing citizens could cover truth for a while, but justice would ultimately out.
When could a new winds of change blow to rediscover the #spirit of #inclusive #Empowerment and dignity for all?
