@holz_bau Maybe you're labeling people Nimbys when they are just people who care about their community?? These issues are much too polarized and people need to start having real discussions, less name-calling.
“The Emerald is a true gem in our community, and over the past year, it has shone brighter than ever, uplifting community voices to tell stories that directly affect the readers it serves.”

@alainabuzas “It’s always just been a hush-hush, we don’t bring it up or talk
about how the land was stolen,” she says. “This is just bringing
it to the front of everybody and saying, ‘Hey, let’s do something
about it.’ ”
@Jrock08@seattlelorax There is open space with trees and ground level access to nature between those buildings. Take notice OPCD! This is how density is done.
@mattbc This kind of able-ism makes me sick. I've worked in places where if you actually used your PTO you were treated as selfish and attacked by other employees. Really, the Co was completely mismanaged and understaffed.
@DavidOAtkins@ivysorta Should we allow investors and the 1% to own our housing?? Advocate for homeownership for those historically left out. Equity is how old people pay for their grandkids education, and pass on wealth. Dont make the problem worse! Explore comm land trusts.
"Protecting the right to organize for better work conditions, holding police agencies accountable and resisting white supremacist violence are critical, as is access to health care and housing." https://t.co/l5iQ8AwN2d
Despite finding that the SPD officer "failed to ... preserve life and safety over apprehending a criminal ..." @SeattleOPA cleared him of serious allegations https://t.co/7GwPcAqdwn
If you consider yourself a ‘visionary’ and your vision doesn’t include the well-being of every single person you affect, you’re not a visionary, you’re a colonizer.
people who have never worked in restaurants are always scandalized to hear about the most basic, day-to-day labor violations. yes they have to be there when they’re contagiously sick. no they don’t get meal breaks
@aimigailadamz @gabydvj Yes, and you should be compensated fairly, with a safety net in case of accident, injury.
The companies are avoiding labor laws and its hurting people.
@holz_bau They control these gig workers as much as employees, so legally they are-except they arent paying them. Breaking labor laws left n right. Pay up or GTFO!
@STCActionFund@pushtheneedle@SCC_Insight Unfortunately only the property owners with equity came out ahead, by selling to developers. Just the hint of upzones caused speculation, and landlords cleared buildings to ease sale.
Its complex, but upzones here were not good for us @ ground level. Need damage control, STAT!
@STCActionFund@pushtheneedle@SCC_Insight I hear you. Looks like Big money and corporate interests still speak louder than both of us. I'm ready to come together so we can have a stronger voice going forward.
@STCActionFund@pushtheneedle@SCC_Insight The UV wasnt expanded. All of whats left of residential South Park was in the UV to protect it from Industry.
We arent TOD, we did it to save the community. To save green space, trees yards, to buffer pollution. See DV CHIA
Lots to learn. We needed power to plan our own hood.
