I cannot believe @SAIFood hit 10 years! In 2014 @stuartsmyth66 hired me for a survey & mentioned this small blog idea to me. I bought a10 year URL domain b/c it was cheaper, never thinking I would be renewing. I am so proud of what SAIFood has become & getting to be a part of it.
Today marks our 10th Anniversary. We have been proudly posting weekly blogs since 2015. We have been able to do so thanks to our readers, and our team, which includes the @agbiousask blogs we so proudly share each year. https://t.co/8Pdxhmulo7
Christmas oranges 🎄🍊 are a staple in Canada, dating back 140+ years. Thanks to the Japanese immigrants who shared their mandarin oranges leading up to the #LunarNewYear & the story Saint Nicholas gifts of gold, today oranges 🍊 are essential to Canadian winters & traditions.
Did you know that the sweet tradition of Christmas oranges is extra special in Canada? In our Holiday post, @SavannahGleim shares how those sweet juicy oranges got to Canada 140+ years ago became a Canadian tradition during the Winter Holiday Season! https://t.co/fDiTHEpWyM
As a consumer it shouldn’t be my responsibility to tell the grocer to stop selling bread in a perforated bag. @loblawco has been contacted multiple times and still they haven’t made the change in #saskatoon, might be shopping elsewhere in the meantime.
We shouldn’t be too surprised given the economy, but for #canadians it will be another year of food prices increasing along with everything else in our lives. So proud of my local @agbiousask team that helped with this report @stuartsmyth66@katesauser14 & @Claire93392038
The data is in & the 15th Canada Food Price Report led by @FoodProfessor is available. It looks like many of us are going to need to budget for groceries & maybe change either our shopping, figure out more cost saving measures like meal planning, couponing, or bulk buying.

To my local #saskag farming friends, use the promo code SASKAGDAY to get a reduced rate for Wed, July 10th of #ifma24. It’s a great lineup of producers and presenters on resilience, growth, and #mentalhealth. Hope to see you there!!
Navigating a grocery stores #BabyFormula aisle is not an easy feat. Knowing what your baby needs and understanding the label is tiring. In my @SAIFood_blog infant formula series, I tackle labels and how to find the premium information you're looking for. https://t.co/mW56lCe72v
If Breast is the Gold Standard, where does Infant Formula fall? This week I kick off a 3-part
@SAIFood_blog 🍼 formula feeding series. I share the struggles I faced finding information on #babyformula feeding as a non-#breastfeeding parent. https://t.co/Df7IkHARWA #MomBlog

We all know and likely have witnessed food prices have increased, it's hard not to. So when grocery shopping and saving money, what's the most important factor below to help save your budget? Or tweet back your best savings tips!
Looking back, my 2020 #COVID19#StockpilingFood list was full of the essentials: rice, lentils, popcorn, & chocolate. But I completely dismissed the need for canned shelf-stable meats. In fact, @SPAMbrand never crossed my mind. Should it have? https://t.co/Bp9IXlNH4I
@gerardgovers@bimbombram@GeneticLiteracy@SAIFood_blog I really appreciate the discussion of @gerardgovers & @bimbombram over this topic, as the answer to "Could livestock be a force for good when it comes to climate change?" is debatable. I think there are CASES where livestock could be a force of good, but not all productions are =
@gerardgovers@bimbombram@GeneticLiteracy@SAIFood_blog My blog was originally intended to show that in some cases, returning livestock to the land could offer benefits to the ecosystem. As individuals, we need to ask whether the gains could be greater than the potential losses it creates? The answer will not always be a Yes or No.
Why do we have to add #gate to every issue? The #Watergate scandal was named after the building, it wasn't a scandal over water. So can we stop tacking gate onto every noun/adjective? Seeing #chipgate today was the straw that broke this camel's back.
Excited to read that @usask classes will resume in person starting Feb 7th. As excited as I am to hopefully be back on campus before the 2 yr mark, I was glad it didn’t start this week with the snowfall we just experienced, & was happy to not shovel myself in & out of work today!
Having grown up with the “got milk?” campaigns & now as a Cdn Ag economist I have wondered how dairy got every 90s celeb to dawn that stupid & influential milk moustache? @PhilEdwardsInc answering this & exploring the US dairy marketing & lobbying success. https://t.co/cmu53Thbvw
In 2015, we posted on @SAIFood our beef with @AWCanada. But six years have passed & it's time to address where & how this Teen Burger & Root Beer slinging fast-food chain is getting some things right. Of course not all my have #beefs have been forgotten https://t.co/VpmjCd3SEL🍔
As you may know, we have had a beef with @AWCanada in the past, but do we still? Check out this weeks post to see while we might not agree with A&W 100%, we can recognize that they are getting some things right. But what are they? - https://t.co/T1bxz9k94c
