Interesting story below re sale of Castlebrook property in Manc.
The big question for the owners of the area-formerly-known as TriBeCa is what they plan to do after a planning decision.
Do they have the money to develop it?
Or do they plan to put it on the market?
Castlebrooke, the property firm behind not-TriBeCa in Belfast, have sold on a big regeneration project in Manchester. The new owners say they will ‘breathe fresh life into a much loved but neglected property.’ https://t.co/mMHLyRtyW6

Belfast’s Tribeca Plan Becomes A Residential Development
The much delayed Tribeca project in the North Street/Donegall Street area of Belfast could now be a residential development instead of an office one.

Conor Shields from Save CQ will be on Good Morning Ulster shortly to discuss yesterday's news on the Cathedral Quarter development proposal from Castlebrooke Investments.

The owners of the controversial Tribeca redevelopment scheme in central Belfast have proposed a new plan which is focused on housing. Castlebrooke Investments has owned the large site next to St Anne's Cathedral since 2016 but has made little progress with it.
TL:DR:
- Castlebrooke has submitted a new pre-application planning notice proposing 1,000 new homes & two hotels.
- The Tribeca name has also been dropped.
- It will hold an in-person public consultation event on 30 June and 1 July at the Masonic Hall on Rosemary Street.

Castlebrooke are having another roll of the dice. They’ve dropped the TriBeCa name & filed a pre-application notice for a housing-led scheme. https://t.co/J71J3ByIvh
🚨"The company is now proposing to redevelop six-acres of land and buildings between North Street and Donegall Street in a mixed residential, hotel and commercial project."🚨

@NewtonEmerson Given that Castlebrooke sold the Assembly Rooms & other bits & pieces the whole site assembly strategy already looks to be in reverse.
"Communities Minister Gordon Lyons is considering...a Public-Private Reference Group... to progress the stalled £500m Tribeca project...
The group would [have] remit to 'provide a collaborative forum to address key issues & help expedite protect development & delivery'."
Does anyone else feel like Custom House Square is massively underused?
It’s one of Belfast’s best public spaces architecturally, but outside the occasional concert or film set it mostly sits empty.
No seating. No café culture. No everyday activity.
What’s frustrating is that @CommunitiesNI is the custodian of the square, not @belfastcc so it often feels disconnected from wider city centre animation efforts.
Could be a brilliant civic space with tables, chairs, coffee carts, greenery and somewhere people actually want to spend time.
What would you add to the square?
Is that it?! When I heard there was grumbling and pearl clutching about pedestrianising streets for a massive event I wondered what all the fuss was about and now I can see it’s only city hall to the art college I have two words for the grumblers whoever they are. WISE UP.
