Environmental conservation group focussed on saving Cowal's hills from ill sited windfarms, since 2014! Campaigning against the Giant's Burn Windfarm proposal.
@PinkDuckUK@carbonchoicesuk No, 'optimal' areas have been redefined in the last ten years and sense has gone out the window. The concrete bases are NOT small and often destroy carbon stored in peatland. Yes re wind, my error in haste. They are paid way more than anything akin to 'compensation'.
@PinkDuckUK@carbonchoicesuk We are into billions now paid out in constraints payments, not just when no grid capacity, but when no wind. Yet they continue to build windfarms nowhere near areas where the electricity is needed, and at huge environmental costs.......
@BBCPolitics Why is the BBC posing this pseudo rhetorical question and then providing an answer which omits any of the depth of an average journalist's ability to reach some truths. Oh yeah, it's the BBC.

@PinkDuckUK@carbonchoicesuk There's a bit more to it than that. You forgot to mention the colossal amounts involved in constraints payments and the needless destruction of environments of critical importance for biodiversity.
My government is right behind the renewable energy revolution which is bringing jobs and investment all over Scotland.
Anas Sarwar wants me to support ultra-expensive nuclear plants, but let me make this crystal clear: we will not be doing that.
The future is with renewables.

@ConnorGillies@SkyNews You only had to follow the debacle of the FB page some months ago to note the falsehood of the footings of GB Energy, never mind its so called location in Aberdeen.
Excellent interview, showing the simplest questions are often the best. If this chap is the boss of GB Energy, itโs doomed. And he repeats the canard that the more renewables and the fewer fossil fuels, the lower our electricity bills will be. If that was true weโd already have much lower fuel bills and America would have some of the most expensive electricity in the world.
@TimEagleHI Hi Tim, we value your comment, but wish to underline the context - the lack of wind routinely gives huge excess payments to fossil fuel operators and overseas suppliers, and then when the wind returns it will be too high so they'll have to turn them off?
If the wind ain't a blowin ๐
I'm not against windfarms BTW, I am against so many that it fundamentally changes rural Scotland.
But also the key is 'Energy Mix' - relying on wind and battery storage is a risk strategy in my mind.
