Durham City AFC are currently homeless, without a win in two years and suspended from the league after being unable to field a team. It’s a story more than 25 years in the making. A thread.

@LinnetsTVJack I wrote this about it last night and finished it this morning. It is embarrassing. Takes something massive away from non-league too which is giving people a chance!

Someone take AI away from these non league sides 🤮
Just pure laziness, whip something up on canva, it'll look 1 million times better and more original.
There's plenty of volunteers who will do you a decent match poster free of charge.
It's getting embarrassing.
He speaks!
True in many senses but sadly his name is still on the deeds. Sell it on for a token amount, engage with people and let the club rebuild properly.
Putting the knife in? Pointing out the sorry state of affairs. 🤷♂️
Like many have said many times, keeping the club going is just making its death slower. Bernard’s refusal to relinquish ownership is the ongoing problem.
Another manager gone, coaches gone, is anyone left?
@SaveDurhamCity@seedorf77 When we get the likes of save Durham city always wanting to put the knife into the club.
At the club we are doing our utmost to keep Durham going.
Should rename yourselves ‘let’s have a go at Durham City’
Scarcely believable where this club is heading. 15-16 years ago they were 2-3 promotions from the EFL and now they could be relagated to the Wearside League third division.
Conceding nearly 6 goals a game on average with -74 GD.
Time for that statement @seedorf77 ?
Last nights result Deerness 11 Durham 0
All we can do is apologise for the result they were obviously the better team but we let our selves down from minute 1 to minute 90
Hopefully we can analyse what went wrong and put in good display at home to Coxhoe on Saturday
The club is doing a fine job of making itself look bad. I reposted someone else saying that the manager left, and he has, what’s false?
The club is in disarray on and off the pitch, a once solid local club stripped of pride and purpose by an absent, disinterested owner.
@ChrisChicken16 You said it all in the first sentence. As I said, absurd.
A potential owner would buy the club, invest in it, show interest in it, all things missing.

@ChrisChicken16 With all due respect that’s absurd. He has turned down significant offers for the club, holding on due to his sunk costs.
I’m guessing you’re not providing a playing budget given the decline on the field?
@ChrisChicken16 The owner needs to sell the club. He doesn’t care and doesn’t provide a penny in funding by all accounts.
What are you doing? What are the grand plans?
@ChrisChicken16@mick88828 @Durham_City_AFC I’m highlighting the ongoing and constant decline under the stewardship of Olivier Bernard.
You’re right, nobody had any idea, results aren’t posted online socials anymore and I’m told a number of good people have left the club in the last 12-18 months.
