โคต๏ธHave you submitted your SBC Local Plan Regulation 19 submission yet for the #Swindon Oasis Leisure Centre site? Deadline 12th November. Details on our facebook page.
It is important the Local Plan is modified to protect the Oasis heritage and the facilities we need there.
Well said. We need facilities. The Local Plan doesn't indicate any.
Just ๐ ๐ and ๐
@MatRix14463751 @SaveOasis @SwindonCouncil @gsum66 should make any future planning consent for housing on the area conditional on the inclusion of a rebuilt dry side with like for like capacity at the Oasis.
It is within the power of the council to ensure facilities are retained.

@SaveOasis Some ideas - main point provides incr flex to position as a regional centre - keep/grow a 'full fat' leisure centre/district with nearby ents too? Put Swindon on map and draw in visitors as well as business?!

@SaveOasis Shld incl Oasis masterplan in Thames Valley initial Strategic Infrastructure Plan coming in late 2027. Also leverage freshly approved ยฃ9.1 million Good Growth dev fund to independently audit Seven's financial viability models & prep a ready-to-go business case for a new Mayor.
Good news. @SaveOasis - this could also open up potential opportunities to help #Swindon Oasis with a wider regional view of infrastructure & leisure linked to housing?

@SaveOasis Rightly so! The plan is a betrayal of the clear message the public have sent to the council and further proof that they show no regard for the protection of heritage buildings or leisure facilities which is why the public have to fight them every step of the way.
Shame on sbc!
People have been getting heated here tonight at the Civic Offices about Swindon Borough Council's draft Local Plan 2043. Oasis, Wyvern, HMOs among the concerns.
We have made a pre-populated Oasis email template for Local Plan changes. All you have to do is add your name and details, then send to SBC. If you want this template, please email us at [email protected]

Deadline is 12th November. Thanks.
@SaveOasis When you have a half full town centre and no leisure centre it's hardly surprising!
@SaveOasis To many houses ๐
Word is on the street that the Swindon City of Culture 2029 bid has failed.
@NeilPithouse https://t.co/gzNmzjNdwJ
This photo shows just how much land 7C have. If they bin off the warehouses, all the houses can go on the former Clares site. (To the left). That way, the iconic view of the grade II listed dome against Swindon's skyline is preserved, and full sports facilities can be rebuilt.
@NeilPithouse Never thought of that. They got permission approved for the warehouses though.
@SaveOasis I've never expected any warehouses to be built. Fully expect SevenCapital to put as many flats as they can on The Oasis site then declare that nobody is interested in the warehouses and apply for more flats there.
@SNSactiongroup @SwindonCouncil Would be perfect. Sadly joined up thinking doesn't seem to exist in SBC Planning department.
