Delighted for our clients - superb work by @ris_law and @jake_thorold
Hackney will need to consult again before making any changes to childcare provision in their children’s centres
The story of how parent campaigners and childcare workers joined forces to open community nurseries and children’s centres during the 1970s and 80s is told through a new website that maps childcare activism in London. https://t.co/PlyZqvXhh8
"Hackney Council admits to unlawful consultation over children’s centre closures" - our clients' successful judicial review covered by @hackneycitizen this week https://t.co/cn8jkKyPL2
🎇Great news for the Hackney Children Centre nurseries, staff and children! But shame on @hackneycouncil for putting them through this. It is disgustingly underhand that they refused to publish the external consultants full report.
.@HackneyAbbott thank you for standing with us and our kid. Will @hackneycouncil , @carowoodley now stand up for our children too and commit to save our children's centres?

Second time @hackneycouncil
has put staff, children and families through an extended period of uncertainty whilst a debacle of a 'consultation' has been conducted. Qs need to be answered about how this has happened again.

This is the kind of cold, callous, inadequate & disrespectful comms sent out by @hackneycouncil officers to #Hackney’s hardworking Children’s Centre staff at affected centres who have been living with the possibility of losing their jobs for months/years for Fernbank. Shameful.
Our campaign’s win against @hackneycouncil was featured on the @BBCLondonNews tonight! So proud at what we’ve achieved but so angry & sad that it took legal action to make the council listen to residents. @carowoodley must now commit to safeguarding #Hackney’s Children’s Centres!
HUGE NEWS!! @hackneycouncil have conceded that the consultation on Children’s Centre closures was *unlawful* so WE WON OUR CASE!!🎉
THANK YOU to all our supporters for helping us to achieve this huge victory! And to our legal team💪🏻 @ris_law@SteveBroach

It’s sad that we have to resort to legal action but we are left with no choice. We must protect these vital services at all costs & if @hackneycouncil@carowoodley won’t fight to save our children’s centres then #Hackney’s residents will do so. Huge thanks to @ris_law@alexrook1!
🥳 Very happy with the CYP Scrutiny committee’s excoriating formal response to @hackneycouncil’s proposals to close or privatise #Hackney’s Children’s Centres! Thanks to @alastairis @SophieConway84 & others for their work on this. Read:

So that’s it, the end of the 1st stage of this fight- thanks to everyone who completed the consultation survey! But we’re not going anywhere until @hackneycouncil@carowoodley listen to #Hackney residents who are united in rejecting Children’s Centre closures. Watch this space!
Are you involved in a campaign to stop the closure of a council-run nursery/maintained #nursery school or Children’s Centre? If so, please get in touch! Particularly keen to hear from you if you are up against a @UKLabour council! Please retweet! #childcare#EarlyYears#SaveMNS
