Citizens protested the Zonal master plan. But the falsified and generic plan was shoved down our throat in a matter of months. The reason for the rush is aptly clear.
On Wednesday, over 2400 tribals gathered in Sanjay Gandhi National Park, opposing the Zonal Master Plan and refusing to relocate, saying the forest was an integral part of their lives and identity.
They demanded implementation of the Forest Rights Act and basic facilities like water and electricity, alleging they were labelled encroachers, with one resident saying, “We have lived here for generations.”
