When working in an office never met anyone else for lunch because I was using the hour to write, when an unemployed single mother did the washing up at 2am (only once all plates were dirty) and waited for baby to fall asleep, when teaching never watched TV & wrote after marking.
@friends_norwood@and_unite@SaveSanderstead@NetworkCroydon@SaveCroydonLibs And by doing so are not only undermining the statutory basis of the library but are also undermining other campaigns and your library service as a whole. As I said at your meeting this is not just about you and your library it has much wider implications 🤷♀️
@friends_norwood@and_unite@SaveSanderstead@NetworkCroydon@SaveCroydonLibs Oh come on what you’re actually proposing is taking on the running of the building with
“A professional library worker during opening hours” NOT library ‘workers’ and reducing the public library space via “private hire, hot-desk subscription and sub-leases to local businesses”
@and_unite@friends_norwood@SaveSanderstead@InsideCroydon@ElizCro@NetworkCroydon Maybe a good way for the Friends Group to support ALL Croydon Libraries would be for them to withdraw their proposals to takeover the library building & cut the staff/space? It not only undermines other campaigns but undermines the statutory basis of the library 🤷♀️
@ElizCro@wylie_alan@SaveSanderstead@NetworkCroydon@SaveCroydonLibs We are deeply saddened and very disappointed by the campaign developments of @friends_norwood libraries should be fully staffed with library workers and protected not sold off. Our position, fight for the library stop privatisation & keep libraries fully staffed
My earliest library memory is of visiting south Norwood Library, I understand people wanting to save their local library. But it's so important that the council provides a fully funded and professionally staffed service across the whole borough.

We are fighting to keep ALL Croydon's libraries properly funded, staffed and stocked.

Just thinking about the Croydon housing story and their proposals to close 5 libraries, many people who live in poor & overcrowded housing use libraries as a warm & safe space 🤷♀️
Looking for people who care about Croydon libraries.
Bradmore Green, Broad Green, Sanderstead, Shirley & South Norwood libraries are under threat AGAIN
Losing these libraries will drastically reduce our statutory library service in Croydon.
Lots of public Q’s about #sandersteadlibrary from the public to @oliverjlewis - who has the cheek to bat off a Q about the lack of public transport access to alternatives with the remark ‘how people get to other libraries is down to them’. Disgusting.
Suggestion from @oliverjlewis that if Sanderstead library closes local residents (many of whom are elderly) could use a volunteer-run library in Selsdon, which is two miles and two bus journeys away.
Library closures a result of reckless spending by @CroydonLabour.
#CroydonLive
Looks like a decision has already been made to close Sanderstead library in its current form. It is the only council community asset in Sanderstead#croydonlive
