@DebraHendler@PIX11News@SaveSection9 has been asking the candidates to adopt our solutions we haven't heard back from anyone :( https://t.co/MEA60LnXEj
Rep. Dan Goldman running a facetiously negative ad against himself in #NY10:
"Who's backing Dan Goldman and his radical agenda? Planned Parenthood, because he fully supports abortion rights. Sierra Club, because he wants to spend billions on the Green New Deal."
@SpeakerMenin@NYCCouncil@CMCHRISBANKS42 The city must invest directly in Section 9 modernization, with transparency, accountability, and resident control. The City Council should redirect those $1.5 billion monies to fund Section 9 units.
"But the moment #publichousing can be converted, bonded, leveraged, ground-leased, and made legible to private capital, money appears, immaculate, generous, well-mannered, and carrying a term sheet". https://t.co/EiCw7qC9cY @laylaLawGisiko
Public housing is not merely a portfolio of distressed assets waiting for financial creativity. It is a public good. The land is public. The homes are public. The social promise is public. This was the vision of Fiorello Laguardia and Eleanor Roosevelt 90 years ago.

@NYCHA is understood to have an obligation over time to repurchase the loan. The loan begins at approximately $61 million, rises to about $143 million by year ten, and could balloon to approximately $1 billion at maturity. The risk is high that the loan will never get repaid.

@NYCMayor "budget includes approximately $1.5 billion over two years to exclusively support Section 8 PACT conversions. The documents indicate that this will involve 62,000 units, roughly 40 percent of NYCHA’s remaining Section 9 portfolio".

If @NYCHA is privatized the private owner "receives the full market rent for each unit, with a portion coming from the tenant and the balance from a federal subsidy. For example, a unit in Fulton Houses in Chelsea would earn $4892 for a 1br, if Related got their way".

We too reached out to @PIX11News and have been asking every candidate in the NY12 race where they stand on #publichousing and if they will adopt our citywide solutions https://t.co/QO6U9m61l9
Why don’t you ask the candidates about their position on the demolition and privatization of public housing, Fulton and Elliott Chelsea in my neighborhood of Chelsea — that will exacerbate evictions, and homelessness. If this is allowed to go through, this will be a model that will end public housing as we know it. It is racist, it is classist, it will kill vulnerable people and @JBKSchlossberg is the only candidate standing up for Nycha tenants. I’m voting for Jack. #NoDemolition #nycha #KeepPublicHousingPublic #SaveSuction9 @SaveSection9@infopobn@fuelgrannie@RPPHNYC@FecStop13647@laylaLawGisiko
Mayor Mamdani told @andrewsiff4NY that a June 1 email confirming the cancelation of a Puerto Rican heritage event at Gracie is “inaccurate” but community leaders told me they heard at least a week ago that the mayor’s office no longer wanted to do it. https://t.co/SxcOqXuOK9
It’s a disgrace that the Mayor’s endorsed candidate @illapaNYC can’t bother to show up at the Asian coalition sponsored Candidate Forum. AD65 includes representing Chinatown.
@Brianr4NY@1199SEIU@citizenactionny@NYSAFLCIO@CentralLaborNYC@NYPANetwork@Dromm25 MSG/Knicks is the only major professional sports venue in NY that does not pay property taxes The exemption saves the venue's owners roughly$54Mmillion a year in property taxes. The IBO estimates this has cost the city over $1billion in unrealized revenue since it began
"Capitalism for developers, socialism for landlords." That's how some are describing NYC Mayor Mamdani’s housing plan.
On the Deconstruct podcast, @Lilah_Burke and Hannah Kramer unpack what it could mean for rent-stabilized landlords, developers and NYC housing.
200K deeply affordable homes? That isn’t accurate. Unless there’s a new HPD program being rolled out that we’re unaware of, they’ll be mostly MIH builds, which are 75% market rate and 25% fake affordable. Meaning, $2,000 studios instead of $4,000. More gentrification on the way.
New: Mamdani's commitment to back Rep. Adriano Espaillat for reelection was at first so ironclad they shook hands on it last summer, Rep. Nydia Velázquez tells me.
Mamdani broke his promise last week by endorsing Espaillat's democratic socialist opponent. https://t.co/Ub8AkQkClW
