Last Friday, the Bishop of Sheffield published his report following the four-month “Visitation” at @sheffcath. Like the Bishop, we found it “uncomfortable reading”. Read the summary here: https://t.co/1DTGKrdeZo
Following the statement by the Bishop of Sheffield on the decision to disband the cathedral choir we welcome the planned inquiry and will seek to engage with the Bishop’s team as part of the process.
The campaign is aware that during Sunday Eucharist, Peter Bradley announced his resignation as Dean of @sheffcath. Members of campaign wish Peter well and we will continue to work with the Cathedral’s leadership to restore the choir.
Terrific article by @thomas_leech@ArtsPro. In our initial statement of support we highlighted the @DOLMusic as inspiration for @sheffcath supposed vision, but there is nothing in this piece that suggests disbanding the choir helps realise this ambition.

@sallywhitwell @spconnolly Hi Sally, we’re pursuing both activities. We want @sheffcath to overturn their decision as we feel they made the wrong decision, but if they’re not prepared to do so then the choir wants to continue to sing together regardless, such is the strength of the community.
Update on @SaveShefChoir campaign. @sheffcath Dean & Chapter refused our request for inclusive dialogue. Whilst they have succeeded in silencing the choristers in the Cathedral, their voices will be heard. Steel City Choristers: a cathedral choir in exile https://t.co/hjrcpiHxV4
We're delighted to be supporting the newly formed Steel City Choristers, a new venture from members of the former Sheffield Cathedral Choir. Please consider donating. https://t.co/bGkyaGH2RZ
It's great to see Canterbury Cathedral choristers on the front page of The @Telegraph this morning!
You can listen to their first Choral Evensong in almost six months - the longest interuption the choir has faced since the Civil War - here ➡️ https://t.co/gCaeq9ntnr 🎶 🎶
We've put together together a video documenting the various errors and statements
@sheffcath have made, analysing why exactly Dean and Chapter have made such an awful decision. A Timeline of Errors: https://t.co/RIKlavt32x
Despite the 'Sing!' project bringing 2,000 children from 30 primary schools to the cathedral each year, the project mysteriously wound up a few years ago.
Words from @BStroudMusic, a former music co-ordinator at Byron Wood school, questioning why @sheffcath raised issues of diversity when they had such a successful outreach programme in place. https://t.co/O7B7GcElmR
